Why is it "tough to set up" ?

The pot is so large that it makes insulating a little hard.

I can vouch for the insulating being a tad of a pain, but I came up with a solution and have since already modded the pot gained a tad more out of her Might experiment a tad more.

Will you share, or are you going to hold out on me?

And yes the thing is so massive. Everytime I clamp it down to the board I feel like the board is going to snap.

Well what works for me may not work for you....mine is a prototype.....dimms are not the same nor is mass....I can afford to take a little away, that said some of the future mods can not be done by man

Surface area mod stage 1, surface area effectively doubled......catch is.....you need special size taps ( quality ones not some cheap crap that will break ), if you break one in a hole you are screwed.......if you have never tapped a thread before I highly suggest you have a a machine shop do it, Being a mechanic I have the quality tools and the know how......

I might reccomend Hanson brand taps that "snapon Inc" contracts for they're tap and dies.

The threading is there specifically to cause more reaction......

Ln2 works off the same principle as refrigeration.......cold is created when liquid is converted to gas.....

In ln2's case when ln2 boils it converts to gas form in the form of bubbles.......the threading is sort of a larger reaction chamber so to speak, creating more and finer bubbles.

The more reaction you can create the higher the transfer of energy.....Of course you can only go so cold with the pot and the limits of ln2 but I don't care about pot temps.....I care about the transfer of pot temps to the cpu.

I care about core temps because phenom II scales the colder you can keep it, if it didn't then why LHe?.....So if you can maintain -180 CPU temps ( not the pot temps )
you are going to get higher clocks than at lets say -170 CPU temps....

I would much rather have vertical "slots" then horizontal threads inside those bores. ITs not worth the extra time really, there is a better solution if you want to increase "micro" surface area.

Venom is REALLY easy to insulate guys. You assemle the whole thing like below with all your foam/prep done underneathe the container before you screw it down. Then you just slide the whole piece of foam the length of the container + a little bit down the whole assemble and your done. Those lips for the shoulder spacers/springs also provide a "hook" to catch the foam and keep it compressed
Mounting guide for this unit will be up very soon.

Agreed but I did what I could with what I have at my disposal atm....tap and die thats it lol.....

We won't even talk about how long this took.

I came up with a solution for insulation in tight area's vince ( gigabyte ) and it also prevents cold creep from bottom of pot. I will post it if you want. The lip does not catch to well or not to my liking I should say.

Noooo! Another container I have to purchase.

It looks quite good actually and no doubt the performance is on par with the looks. Nice work!

hey Chew, have you done DI with this pot yet? Been working with it and have tried a couple different ways but still can't seem to get below -35C. Vince suggested a couple things, but wouldn't mind having a bunch of different ideas before I go and buy more DIce.

This pot I use strictly for ln2.....

I have about 4 pots total each pot has it perfect purpose, one kills 3d/ load apps on DI, other is perfect for 2d work....

IME there is no perfect pot....there is only perfect pots for specific tasks....thats said I am slowly tweaking vinces for load apps.

My other ln2 pot has already proved itself worthy in 2d and can not be modified.

Do not take his statement so literal. Gautam's image assumes a flat base, you would simply taper the base slightly and the capacitors will not contact the base.
