    GF's Laptop Screen Cracked

    The Title says it all.
I am looking for a new laptop for her.
Shes fairly careful with it though I guess the LCD support around the screen is bad.

*I need something that is less flimsy than the Gateway computer is now.
*Something that has Very good Cooling capability (The gateway is a hot MFer).
*Also something that XtremeSystems users would consider buying
    We are picky afterall.

If anyone would give me direction in which brand I should get, and the Model line that would be great.

I've like the New Dell Inspiron laptop my Mother bought, though I would love second opinions.

Dual core CPU (A 45NM process would be great),
Dedicated GPU (Nvidia, ATI dont care),
    15in Screen would be fine.

I just bought a core 2 T7700 2.4ghz gateway refurb, then added a vertex ssd and ram to it. it flys for a lappy. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...75M-3R&cat=NBB

your other lappy didn't overheat because it was a certain brand, it overheated because of the hardware in it. any brand would do that with the same hardware. but you didn't include any of that info.

Well from my experience the Gateway laptop my girlfriend has took way too many penny pinching shortcuts.
Heatsink is way too small, The fan speed management only kick in at 60C.
All in all very poorly designed laptop.

If they updated their designs I wouldn't mind it.

    Thanks for the link.

    I guess I should Specify,
Dual core CPU (A 45NM process would be great),
Dedicated GPU (Nvidia, ATI dont care),
    15in Screen would be fine.

You are looking at this all wrong...

Girlfriend needs a new monitor... ?! Wrong !

YOU need a new, bigger, faster, brighter, super amazing monitor... she needs your old one

Edit: not sure why I was saying "Monitor"... I meant to say "Laptop"

Seriously - getting a replacement screen would be pretty cheap (relatively) and avoid all the tech support job (you I'd guess) of transferring files and such.

Google replacement laptop screens and you'll find a few good vendors able to help
