Compatability of Old and New EK 7970 Blocks

Currently running a single reference 7970 with the original EK 7970 block (although mine is the copper/acetal version). I'd like to pick up a 2nd card for Crossfire but it doesn't look like the new EK 7970 block and my old one would be compatible with a bridge.

I really don't want to have to sell the old one and buy two new ones nor do I want a weird tubing configuration to make it work. Would another manufacturer's block match up with my EK block using a bridge of some sort? Any other ideas?

What a wonderful way for EK to screw you over...

Without knowing the exact dimensions of other blocks and inlet/outlet placement it would be impossible to tell for sure if a different block would work. It would still look wonky anyway.

I love CSQ, so awful...maybe the next designs will be a bunch of squares, or a simple grid...

Well CSQ bridges work only with CSQ blocks. If you could find a old version bridge and an old block that would be the cheaper solution, other then that I just see one exit sell your block and get all the CSQ stuff ( if you wanna keep using EK blocks that is ).

If you only find an old block, lurking around the internet, you can connect them using normal fittings without having to do any wierd tube routes.

Thanks for the advice guys. That's what I was afraid of. I'll be out $250-275 for new blocks, $20 for a bridge, and I might get $75-80 for my old block. So around $220 to watercool another 7970. Same story if I go with another manufacturer really.

Wait for 7990 if it ever comes out? You'll only need one more block, no bridge, and you can get rid of the existing stuff.

If you can live with one block being nickel plated and the other not, then performance pcs still has the old 7970 EK block available here: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=33179

Wouldn't the nickel cause issues with my copper blocks already in the loop?
