    Bloodrage/Windows7/CreativeX-FI/Realtek

I recently switched over to the windows 7 RC and its great except for the fact that I can't get the Creative X-FI app to work with the realtek audio card. I tried the drivers on the CD and compatibility mode, but for some reason its saying that its not detecting a supported device.

I was just curious if anyone was able to get this working?

I guess it should work with x86 ones.. x64 has quite a lot of compatibility issues, both SW and HW. Try it if you want.. I'll wait for final.

Actually I've had fewer problems then with Vista. Other than Vista foxconn apps not recognizing the OS version, and the X-fi problem mentioned above, windows 7 has been awsome.

Basically I was wondering if there is some config setting or something that I can edit to get the soundcard to fool the creative software into recogintion. I'm sure it would work fine, but it does't see the realtek card that comes with the board as compatible with x-fi.

I guess I'm alone on this one. I wouldn't count on creative to update the drivers just because of a problem with foxconns audio card either...even after the final win7 is out.

Try right click, "Troubleshoot Compatibility" and set the installer to run in Vista mode with admin priviledges.

It's worked for me for other programs that complain about OS version. Needs to be Vista compatible in general though.

Has there been a resolution to this yet? I am also having the same problem and it would be nice to know if Windows 7 x64 will ever be supported.

If its not in development/its months away then at least me know so I can go get a decent sound card, but I don't want to do that if the driver is due next week!

I've heard of some issues with win7 and drivers for xfi. However, I currently use x64 with all the components on vista sp1 with 0 issues. Altho, I dont care about apps, just drivers.

I have the same config, but am still a couple of months away from seriously considering tearing up my perfectly stable vista setup.

Windows 7 is even more stable than Vista was for me. I'm just worried that Creative isn't going to upgrade drivers to support XFI on theese on board cards in windows 7, since its a realtek chipset on the audio card.

Edit: Just saw the link that prostock posted. Gonna try now.

Just to let anyone know who is still interested in using X-fi with windows 7, I found a fix on another forum and it worked for me.

3.Put in your disk and run it under Vista Sp1 compatibility mode( to do this right+click and do open or explore, then right+click on the setup.exe file and set compability to vista sp1 in the dropdown list)
    4.Install realtek drivers,reboot
    5.Install Creative drivers,reboot
    6. YOUR DONE AND NOW YOUR SOUND CARD WORKS

PS: make sure you install everything through the disc menu(the bloodrage utility thing), meaning don't browse to the setup file on the disc and install.

All I have to say is THANK YOU MAN, YOUR AMAZINGGG

(Yea i know somethings stated above are obvious, but always nice to read easy to follow instructions IMO )

Well I found out it has to be done it that order, that specific way.

It only works for me the way that was listed. Updated Realtek driver dosen't work with X-fi, and the updated X-fi driver doesn't work with that realtek. I guess I never thought of using the CD, for the simple reason that I never use the CD.

Its funny because, it won't work if you browse to the folder on the CD and install it that way. It has to be done by running the disc startup screen. Very strange indeed

(I'm talking about X-FI Utnorris, not the regular realtek driver.)

Not had the same issue on Win 7 x64 Enterprise. Just used the latest vista 64 drivers from foxconn and everything went fine. No special requirements or instructions to install.

Possibly the same as Utnorris - you on Enterprise x64 too dude?

I think you are talking about the same thing as Utnorris.

The sound itself works with the standard Win7 driver....no issues there.

However, the on board audio supports X-Fi, which is leased from creative. This would not install in windows 7 unless I did the steps listed. I'm guessing since most don't seem to know or care about X-fi here, its not such a big deal. I just thought I would mention it for those that did care, though.

I just installed Win7 today aswell and followed the instructions, and everything loaded fine, but when I would play anything I would get a couple seconds of the sound clip and then a sound like pulling a plug in and out, feedback, squelch or whatever, then it would go back to normal playback. So I tried to find an updated driver, got it from foxconn's website for Bloodrage drivers. I uninstalled old drivers reinstalled new, and BAM.... the issue is still there. I switched from Vista Ultimate and I didnt have any issues at all.

Any ideas on what it might be?

I have no idea what it was but 3 is the magic number of restarts it took to make it work...
Weird as all hell, or it might have been the fact that I brought someone in to hear the problem and ask for help and ofcourse the issue didn't happen with witness.

I hope foxconn releases a updated xfi driver pack for windows 7. Creative wont touch any oem software. I know there is a workaround and all, but I want it to just work the way the blood gods intended it to.

    Bloodrage drivers for win7

I found this today, their website does not like Google chrome, had to use IE8 to get it to download. Once downloaded it installed fine except for my one crazy issue (but it was doing that before that link)

Xfi doesn't work for me with those drivers. You can get much newer ones on the realtek site, if you don't plan on using xfi.

just a quick note, you must use the realtek drivers one the disk, not just download the lastest one from realteks website, then re-start you computer then instll the creative drivers as per the above link.
