if this is only universal (and i assume virgin also would be in on it since its their isp), then will it be some added cost for every studio, and what good dose this do since streaming service deals never give artists any money.

ive been on Virgin broadband for a couple years now, i got their original 10MB unlimited service and they offered me the free upgrade to 20MB bout 6 months ago. I download quite alot of stuff and they havent capped me since i bought their original unlimited. I would definitely recommend them to anyone now as they are by far the best ISP in the UK when compared to the awful crap that DSL is in this country.
The topic was made in 2009, guys. I thought Shintai is back for a moment.
Sounds interesting to me.
I'm all for the move towards subscription based streaming as long as the content is worth the fee.
Would be nice to no longer need to store so much media locally if I can easily stream what I want when & where I want.
EDIT: Wow, threads need some sort of archived marking/flag after like 6 months or so.

That's illegal in my country.
They are invading your privacy if they monitor what do you download or what sites you visit.
I'm against this.
Artists need to find new ways to make money with their work. They need to understand that the business has evolved and now they can only think of their records and movies as marketing. They have to start earning music through concerts, theaters etc.
Not a valid option for all:
The Spotify countries
I recommend something like http://www.deezer.com/en/index.phpSpotify is available in the following countries:
Finland
France
Norway
Netherlands
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom
United States

Virgin Broadband is an extension of the "copyright" industry. They are a lobby to make policing of data transfer acceptable by an ISP. There's a distinct difference between official authorities dealing with piracy and a data carrier that does its own policing. It becomes a closed door affair with the large copyright holders, accountable to no one.
