    Yes, I tried higher voltages with 4 cores. I went as high as 1.4375V. Since Im on air, I didn't feel comforable going higher. I didn't try a real high voltage on the NB(1.15V max) since the MCP78S was getting very hot. Ive since put a fan on it, so I may up the voltage more later.

    4 cores would boot OK, but would always lock system within 1-10min, no matter what I did with voltages or multi's. Starting P95 would cause it to lock faster.

    One draw back with this board is FSBRAM multi's. You only get 3 settings, thats it. Not very good. For hard core overclocking, Id go elsewhere. I got this boards for 2 monitor system.

    Success with caveot, with 4 cores enabled, will lock up always. Disabled one core with msconfig and 3 cores work fine. Ran prime95 for 7hrs overclocked to 3.5GHz and FSB 210, Memory 1:2 to 420MHz. Sill testing to see how far it will go. I also added a fan to the chipset IC, the nVidia MCP78S(GeForce 8200). This set is one IC for the whole motherboard. May give some more headroom for overcloaking. The IC gets very hot in normal running. I wonder why ASUS didn't put a fan on it.

    This CPU was a good part on air(Zalman 9700) with 2 cores and was able to do a few benchs @ 4.0GHz before crash with no voltage uppers(super PI-1M @ 17.3s). So far this part doesn't seem to like alot of voltage. Ill post some pics later.

    System:
    AMD Phenom II 550BE
    M4N78 PRO
    2GB OCZ2N1066SR1G
    Raid 0 2x WD Raptor 150GB
    Antec 500W PS
    Fan added to chipset nVidia MCP78S(GeForce 8200)

    how do you disabled one core with msconfig?
    I have an issue with my 550BE running unlocked to X4, maybe I should disabled one core?

    thanks

    run msconfig from command prompt, select boot menu, select advanced, uncheck number of cores, select 3. Apply and reboot.

    Yes to both, latest BIOS #1004 and the chipset by design is a 8300A video chipset. Check ASUS website, all the info is there.

    Got the screen snap shot of 3cores for the 550BE.
    Just got a new combo,
    0922MPMW - RussC - ASUS M4N78 PRO - 1004 - Success
    See above post. 4cores still wont run under load. 3cores need NCC tweak in the BIOS to run stable under load @ -4% for the third core. Pic:

    As seen, 3.6MHz stable with a very minor voltage tweaks. I bet this unit will run 4.0GHz with more voltage and water. I don't feel comfortable at 1.45 or 1.5V on air. Another big breakthrough along with fan on MCP78S chip was getting the covers on the Antec 900 box. Temps on the CPU dropped ~11F with covers, always put your covers on with high end boxes

    Will do more testing to see if 3.7 or 3.8 is possible with this part.

    Just got a 550 and 790X-UD4P. Its unlocked and working at 3.6 now, with 1.5Vcore, and .2v added to NBv and NBvid. Fails OCCT Linpack after 10min. Temps are fine, speedfan, everest, and hwmonitor all report the same, 48C load.

    ACC is set to auto -2% for all cores. Is there a guide anywhere on what the ACC settings do, and where they should be set?

    I was wondering the same thing.

    I have the same board as you. Forgot to document the production specs of the CPU. Don't feel like pulling off the HSF right now. I was running the chip@3.6 NB 2.6 all 4 cores -2%. Ran prime, OCCT etc. and all seemed fine. But sometimes the system blue screened, no real pattern to it. Sometimes it would run for hours, other times it would blue screen on boot up.

    Lowered the NB to stock frequency and is running stable @3.6, NB VID and core at 1.325. I have crappy 800Mhz memory, never thought the chip would run this high with all 4 cores the system deserves better memory.

    when you unlock Phenom II 550 into Quad core and if you cannot boot into Windows make sure that you lower RAM frenquency.many unlocked chips have unstable ddr2 memory controller for 1066 mhz memory frenquency

    Thanks for the update.

    But you forget to add the success of unlocking my X2 550BE 0919 EPMW with my new mobo : Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H. and it's also ok with the Asus M4A78-E flashed with the last bios

    To make it simple :

    X2-550BE 0919 EMPW + Asus M4A78-E => success

    X2-550BE 0919 EMPW + Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H => success

    X3-720BE 0904 CPMW + Asus M4A78-E => fail (black screen and reboot)

    You can add my results if you want. Thanks for all

    The general consensus is that the PhII X2 550 unlocks on Asus M4A78E right (790GX + SB750)? (I'm probably ordering it tomorrow for my father). The X2 is still a great chip without the unlock but then I wouldn't have to buy such an expensive board (could easily save 50$). I'm most interested in rock solid stability @ four cores - 3,1GHz, 4GB DDR2 @ 800MHz - that's a huge upgrade from his single-cored Sempron
