AMD Phenom II TWKR Black Edition spotted

Going into tease mode, Wallace Santos, the CEO of custom PC builder Maingear, has blogged about a 'special' AMD CPU called the Phenom II TWKR Black Edition. Seen below, the quad-core part is supposed to be able to overclock higher than the Phenom II X4 955 BE

Notice the lack of "x4" or "x" anything. 6 Core Istanbul core mayhap?

Kind of, but the socket is very wide, that is because it has to be able to support a Istanbul MCM part for 45nm.

Istanbul should be able to fit in a AM3 socket on 45nm

cherry pick silicon with numbers of wafer part ?

Istanbul is server it's on socket 1207

a desktop product is unlikely sever cpu price is a lot higher. more profit there for AMD.

it would be very low clock 6 core BE wattage of 140 watts.

this says it can past 7ghz.

apparently no one read your post!
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

    binned for cold?
    shaaaweeeeeeet!

if this is actually the propper bin1 that amd pulls to send it off to ocers and press and using it on wr attempts with liquid helium, then that would be a great move!

and if thats the case, i hope intel follows!
as soon as its possible to buy bin1, even if its very expensive, all this handpicking is sortof ok imo... well thats at least my opinion...

Well, our Phenom II's are nothing but the exact same chips as the server ones - except ours only has 1 HyperTransportBus enabled. Istanbul migrating could very well be a reality.

Istanbul currently doesn't support DDR3 -Officially- as it's not a priority for AMD and its customers atm, which would make a Dekstop Istanbul going in the wrong direction to become a AM2+ CPU hmm.

But I think the same as you, that it's cherrypicked Deneb.

istanbul 2435 2.6ghz 6 core is a 75W ACP package so that is approx 95-105W desktop TDP, soon there will be a 2.8-2.9 version in the server SE part with 105W ACP which is 125W TDP so what clock are you expecting in a 140W?

    deneb - shanghai
    .... - istanbul

no issues at all to bring this 6core to desktop, margins would be enough, this isn't a 250$ cpu

I wonder what the stock speed is, and is this meant to perform close to Core i7 or what?

it's meant to be a "super black edition" = cherry picked from the factory

4ghz on stock voltage would be sweet (64bit)

    i need 1.58v to get 4ghz semi-stable under 64bit

My guess is that is the "high leakage" CPU some of the guys were talking about after the last AMD overclocking event.

There is a small group at AMD that is all about performance. I think this is sort of the revival of the FX.

Quoted from a page of this post...
I think that ,this it's what Amd want's to improve
Not cold bug, not tolerance to high voltages.
I think that this "Tweker" will have a better scalability in overclocking with less volts , I mean it's a shame 1.58v for 4ghz
May be it's a new revizion improve like the notorius "E0" on Intel..
May be this will do 4.4-4.5ghz on 1.5v max... to equal Q9550/Q9650...
I bet that it will have 3.33ghz like I7 975, i mean it will be the top of Amd, so why shouldn't be equal at least in frecuency.... 3.4,3.5 seems like Prescott era .....

just FYI voltages are different on AMD than intel what seems high on intel isn't high on AMD

I heard these are supposed to be sent to well known overclockers for sub 0 cooling only.
If it ends up being a success they will reintroduce them as FX line. Hi-leakage = Voltage loving = -0 cooling
