    Has the XS Community ever done something like this?

    It appears as if the

    ENTIRE
    ONLINE
    COMPONENT
    OF THE
    NATION OF FINLAND

    is currently online (and have been FOR DAYS), defending their flag on

    http://two.drawball.com

    against the likes of 4chan's /b/ forum.

    Has XS ever been this passionate...... on anything? .... over anything?

    It seems there is a giant flag of Finland and people can go on and deface it and the Finlandians (??) have to draw over their vandalism to keep their flag looking pretty? (Just trying to use my age to make an educated guess)

    Story is that /b/ (4chan) tried to set up their "Awesome" logo on the drawball.

    Finland, apparently took exception to this.... and war commenced.

    If you want to participate (on either side or sides) but you're not in the mood to mess around, try running a script to maximize your ink and damage delivered to the opponent(s).

    For example, on windows.. you could download the free program "autohotkey"

    http://www.autohotkey.com/

    and use a simple script to start off with, like the following autohotkey script :

    ;Made by G____
    ;Sets focus to the drawball, alter this if you are using IE like a :banana::banana::banana:.
    IfWinExist drawball.com - Mozilla Firefox
    {
    WinActivate
    }

    Inc = 1

    Click 680, 440 ;Clicks onto the center of the drawball on my screen.

    ;Comment the next line back in if you want to wait 3 seconds before you start the shenanagins.
    ;Sleep, 3000

    ;The number here (i start with 20) is how many times the loop runs. Alter this at your leisure.

    Loop, 15 {
    Loop, %Inc%{
    MouseMove, 0, -10, 10, R ;Up
    Click
    }

    Loop %Inc%{
    MouseMove, -10, 0, 10, R ;Left
    Click
    }

    Inc++

    Loop, %Inc%{
    MouseMove, 0, 10, 10, R ;Down
    Click
    }

    Loop, %Inc%{
    MouseMove, 10, 0, 10, R ;Right
    Click
    }

    Inc++
    }

    Exit

    ;cut here--------------------------cut here

    This will set up a rectangular pattern of dots at the baseline draw level that, when zoomed out, will solidify a bit under drawball's resize algorithm. (The point is to disrupt the opponent's pattern at the top level .. current top level pattern is .. of course .. the Flag of Finland )

    Depending on your dot pattern, you could choose a medium or so dot size and you'll be saving more ink while you maximize damage . Of course, there is more to this nonsense : feints.. counter-attacks.. decoys.. phalanx moves.. teamwork.. and many hours wasted -- lots of fun for the whole family, ages 5 to 90.

    Ink levels are based on IP address and time. First run, you get 5% ink-level. Subsequent runs refill to 100% over time (a few hours at first). The more you draw, the faster it refills.

    It's a raid. The most memorable raid was on a chat bot that would 'learn' words and phrases from the people it communicated with. I think it was bucket or something. Well by day's end, it spewed racist garbage.

    Back in like 05-06 I came across drawball and it was fun for a bit as people actually did really nice pieces and if the site admins liked them, they were set to not be screwed up by anyone else. The challenge is to start something and keep going back and re touch it up and or expand on it to create something really good.

    The challenge is the ignorant tools that intentionally deface someones piece.

    They used to have a page (nto sure if they still do) of pieces that were completed and you could go back and watch it being done, stroke by stroke so for those that are artistic and determined it is a way to show your talent.

    If you want to see what started DB and pieces that are well done then check out the link below.

    A lot of talent from across the globe.

    I don't know if it counts as dedication, but I spent today writing and refining software to help out team Finland. It uses staggered dot patterning with AI decision making on where to put ink so as to clear off as much graffiti as possible as quickly as possible with as little ink as is necessary to achieve the effect. It even determines where on your screen the draw ball is, makes a 92% radial crop for work space, etc. All you have to do is point it at graffiti/defacements and setup the brush.
    Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
    As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
    Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
    When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
    When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
    When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

    Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
    You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

    How about we try it with a logo of our own? I'd like to see how fast we as a team could change the outcome of this drawball. If even 1/10 of the people folding would just add this app to their startup folder, could we own the place in 2 days? Some sort of friendly "gang war"

    A shame really, I bet it's the likes of /b/ that did this, they always try to blame their raids on eBaums too...
