    Crosshair 4 Extreme Tri-Fire capable?

Not posted on here in a very very long time

Anyway as most of you will know the Extreme ships with the Lucid hydra chip and that complicates things when trying to run native multi-GPU's.

At the moment I have 2x PowerCooler 5850's and a 9800GT Energy Efficient Model for PhysX duty.

I have a 5850 in slot 1 and second card in slot 4

The 9800GT lives in slot number 5

Hydra driver is installed but disabled and with the current slot config I get crossfire + Nvidia physX without any problems at all.

Now I wish to go tri-fire 5850 ( Anyone have any benchies btw? ) but I would have to use slot 2 and I don't know how the hydra chip will behave with a GPU in that slot, It could very well disable everything.

    Does anyone have any insight?

slot #1&#3 are native CrossFire, Tri-Fire can only use Lucid A-mode, use #1 #2 #4 slot.

Then how am I running Crossfire with slots 1 & 4 with Lucid turned off in the driver control panel?

And if I try to turn it on it warns me it will not work properly when ATI CrossFire is enabled..

According to this, what they said on the reviewer's guide:
It is recommended to install the two graphics cards onto the PCIE_X16_1 and
PCIEX_16/X1_3 slot when needing to enable native dual card CrossFireX to eliminate the
latency introduced by Lucid HYDRALOGIX controller.
If you use slot 1 & 4 without Lucid it works, but not native Crossfire.

I've just chucked them in slot's 1 and 3 and the performance is the same, So in theory I could run slot's 1,2 and 4 for Tri-Fire and just run though the Hydra core logic but bypassing the Hydra driver itself?
