    Guys,

    currently doing a customer build based on the DFI, having some issues with it you may be able to help me with.
    HW: i7 920 C0 (running 191x21), 12GB Gskill DDR3-1600 running @ 8x dram, Dual GTX 295's, an X-Fi, 3x Supertalent Ultradrives in Raid 0 (using onboard raid), Zalman 1KW PSU, Vista Ult 64.

    In short, I flashed to latest bios 0508, set up the raid, and put in the Win DVD. As soon as setup started the rig would always reboot. I remembered something about issues with the "memory lowgap" setting, and since I got the PCIe pretty well populated I immediately started to tinker with it. Setting lowgap to 3GB (max setting for 0508 bios) the board froze at post, needed a CMOS clear. Next up was 2,5GB which worked, let me install Vista w/o further hassles.

    So next I stabilized the CPU (ran 6h prime, LiNX too) to make sure CPU/mobo/ram were stable. Then I fired up 3D06 loop and went away. 2 hours later I came back and found that the rig had crashed and rebooted. I started 3D06 again and after an hour or so, I returned only to find it had done it again.

    So, whats up:

    1. PSU too weak? I don't think so, my kill a watt read around 700W from the wall at the most, being a 1KW it should take at least 110W from the wall
    2. GPUs too hot? Again I don't think so, they are still untouched (stock clocks/cooler) as I like to check all the HW before going on water
    3. Mobo too hot? I added a fan earlier, but it passed prime and LinX so I don't think so
    4. Something to do with that ing memory lowgap.. again. Should I try a different setting? More/less? Maybe another bios? On 0227 beta I can select up to 3,5GB lowgap

    Thanks in advance guys

    I can't get 32MB Superpi to finsh, without program stopped in windows. I am stable in Wprime and games like Crysis Warhead.

    Is there a problem with superpi in newer bioses, because its been like this for a while...?

    What memmory-test program would be recomended with my 64 Bit system...?

    Checkthe sig of sam_oslo in this very thread and you'll see he's using OCZ animals (clickme).
    I'm thinking to setup something very similar to this, W3520 + 1600 OCZ CL7 LV sticks on this board. I think what Eva is doing here is very inspiring!

    Praz says some folks having this issue but some aren't. What symptoms you getting when running 32m pi ? it could just be your settings aren't correct. Which bios also ?

    Probably cause Corsair was first to market - availability could be an issue too. In Australia it's much easier to get hold of Corsair's entire range of models than it is for OCZ or for that matter many other brands.

    Yup I got some OCZ Animals form OCZ too - but they'll make their debut on DFI JR X58-T3H6 as the UT X58 rig is busy with other tests right now

    i still use Memtest86+ (v2.11) for initial tests and figuring out what voltage and settings a cpu/mem pair response to before loading windows. Memtest ain't going to give you the windows 24/7 stability indications but still helps figuring stuff out like what voltages and settings produce less or no errors for a particular config versus another config

    interesting batch.. what are temps like at those settings ?? tempted to try another W3520 but OZ stock isn't coming for next batch until June 10th heh - hopefully same price drop occurs as has on i7 920/950 in OZ. i7 920 dropped from AUD$425-499 to AUD$370-400 this week. i7 950 dropped from AUD$875-965 to AUD$810-875 Currently, W3520 sits on AUD$480-530 price point heh.

    It is both hot and cool (compared to my good old i7 920). It is cooler Clock-for-clock , but it is very hot volt-for-volt.

    Temp becomes a big matter on w3520 (at least on this batch), because it can handle much higher BCLK with almost everything else on stock, but it can run pretty hot at high speeds.

    My Air-cooling (Prolimatech Megahalems, 2x1200RPM Scythe Slip Stream push/pull) inside a good ventilated case (CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000, 5x120) is giving these max-core-temps under prime-load:

    @4.01GHZ(211x19) 1.15v, 68-66-66-63
    @4.2GHZ (210x20) 1.23v, 78-76-75-72

    I have been playing a few days and it is too early to conclude, but this CPU seams to need no tweaks up to @4.3GHZ on this MB. It seams to need more VVT, IOH (or maybe more?) for prime-stability above @4.3GHZ. I couldn't finish the experiment because of the summer-heat but for now it seams to need 1.28v for @4.3GHZ and 1.296v for @4.4GHZ (with 21x). But unless i find a way around the heat, these speeds will push my air-cooling to its limits, if not over.

    I have both 3845A935 and 3848A352. My 45A is very hot, hotter than most 45As, but with a strong uncore (4.2 on air). The 48A clocks higher and with lower temps, but the uncore is very difficult to get over 3.8. Not quite certain, but i think the imc on the 45A is stronger than the 48A.

    @PRJ

    Just did a fresh test on 5/08 Official Bios to see if it can be a BIOS-issue, but it is running just fine on my setup.

    This setting has passed 1 hour small FFT's prime torture test, and the memory is tested with 8 instance of 500MB MemTest 3.8

    Just did a fresh test on 5/08 Official Bios to see if it can be a BIOS-issue, but it is running just fine on my setup.

    This setting has passed 1 hour small FFT's prime torture test, and the memory is tested with 8 instance of 500MB MemTest 3.8
    Thanks for the check, that rules out bios as a problem.

    I'm running 500 MB memtest lets see if that will pass 8 times... ( edit: Is 800% = 8 passes..? )

    Your opinion on any changes in my bios templet...?

    800% should get the problem out, but I would feel safe already after 100% too.

    My CPU would run unstable with too much VVT (it runs more stable with 1.23/1.26v BIOS/Load), and you could try lowering the VVT, but this can be different for each CPU, otherwise your BIOS-settings looks good to me. SuperPI 32m sets almost no load on CPU (20% ?) and this makes me to suspect the RAM and QPI to be the first possible source of this problem, but I'm still using "old" RAM with 6x multi, and this makes your RAM very un-familiar to me.

    It's a very quick memmory test program

    I see your point, I'll try lowerring the VVT, but the Elpida IC's they should love higt VVT

    Only time will tell

    thats even @ 7-7-7-20 1N

    Looks good. If you are running 8 instance av 1830% of this with no error, then your RAM should be able to handle SuperPI 32M too, and you can consider the possibility av RAM-issue eliminated.

    EDIT: 8 instance looks like this:

    Next you can try to play with VVT-volts, try both lower and higher values, just to eliminate the possibilities.

    I have found that 1.29 VVT gets me the furthest, all 24 loops, but didn't complite calculation and time.

    Ohh... i need to memtest again, thats not how i did it, i only had one session open..

    **UPDATE**

    No luck getting superpi stable with any VVT Voltage, but i did manage 8 sessions of memtest without error...
