Hello guys My first time posting here so please be easy on me
I've had the Bloodrage for quite some time now and a 3847A821 i7 920 D0 and I have to say I just love the board! Well, the D0 as well :P
I have a couple of questions for you Lord_Trident if you don't mind.
- BIOS G25 is the latest and the greatest I understand from reading around this site. However it's dated May 2009. By now it's well into August and I was wondering; will G25 ever leave beta status and appear as P09 or something? I have flashed to G25 yesterday and still have to explore it and see if it allows my D0 to be much more stable.
- To get an idea for G25, how does it compare / stack up to P08? P08 I have most experience with since I didn't begin to really push my D0 until I had P08.
Now for a few issues I have. I've checked around the web to see what the D0 batch I got is capable of on average and I see things like 4.4GHz stable with HT on. So far I've managed to get it stable @ 4.2GHz with HT on, on a BCLK 205 x 21. However it needs quite some volts; 1.36 under load. I couldn't get 4.3GHz stable no matter how much Vcore, Vtt and Vioh I threw at it, all the while keeping temps < high 80s.
Right now I am trying to get 4.3GHz stable with HT on going to a 216 x 20 config with the G25 BIOS. For now I've set the CPU multi to x16 to have a 3.88MHz OC with 1.24 Vcore. I know this D0 can do 4GHz with 1.24 easily but for now I am trying to get the system stable with a 216 BCLK. An Uncore multi of x18 is not stable, no matter the amount of Vtt and I could not boot into Windows. I can't put my finger to the problem. Maybe the IMC is unstable, maybe L3 cache, maybe QPI between CPU and IOH (which I have @ 1.24). EDIT: About the x18 uncore, that was with the P08 BIOS.
Anways, I hope this G25 will help me get to 4.3GHz HT on stable and if I am really lucky, 4.4Ghz HT on. If you want I could post my current BIOS settings too.
Now I am going to find where I need to put my system specs

Just got home from work and was pleased to see the Prime95 Blend test this time didn't BSOD on me so that's progress in my quest for a stable BCLK of 216 with a x18 Uncore! I had Vuncore at +160mV that BSOD'ed overnight. This morning before I went to work I started Prime95 but now with 2 notches up, +180mV and no more BSODs. Only 4 worker threads error'ed out now at various time intervals from 2 hours soonest, to 4 hours latest.
Am now rerunning with another two notches up - +200mV for Vuncore. I would suspect Prime95 would now pass 8+ hours on Blend. This I was not able to do with the P08 BIOS by a long-shot. Keeping fingers crossed Once I got the thing stable at 216 BCLK, I can finally begin upping the cores themselves. Reason why I want to go for 216x20 rather than 205x21 is to get the most out of my OCZ Blades 2GHz, they are now running at 1734MHz with lovely 6-6-6-12 timings and the Uncore / L3 cache at 3.9GHz which should promise a great memory throughput.
BTW, is there any word on the Bloodrage supporting Gulftown in the near future?

Gulftown - we donīt know
P09 - we donīt know
Donīt expect much from Foxconn or Quantum-Force.. its probably almost dead. Even if I love BR, I wouldnīt buy it at this current state.. I pray, that situation will change, and there will be support.. but Iīm really afraid, that there wonīt be any. Theyīve got their money, and cause QF is ending, they donīt need satisfied customers, cause simply, there wonīt be any future customers, except those really big, which donīt care about this.. Foxconn doesnīt need good image, they in fact, donīt need us at all.
I donīt regret buying BR (still have two of them ), but donīt expect much in future, if there will be any.. I think theres high probability, that current state is end-line.

It's really a shame, I got the board a month or two after its release. So far it's the best board I've ever owned. My previous board was an XFX 790i Ultra with a Q6600 G0 in there. I was quite bummed when I heard the QF channel closed shop. If it's really EoL as it appears to be I'll have to go with something else O.o. I haven't been very impressed with Asus since their 680i boards and I used to be an Asus fanboy. Then there was Foxxconn with the Bloodrage which had "WIN" written all over it.
I may actually hold out for the new Gigabyte series, the new EX58A-UD4 revision due in Sept. I've had one Gigabyte board before the XFX but it wasn't even stable at stock settings - the board only liked a 333MHz FSB, it hated the default 266 and the OCed 400+ settings though, it was impossible to get stable on those FSBs no matter what I did. Because of that I keep hearing these warning bells in the back of my head whenever I think of getting that EX58A board.
If QF wouldn't have closed down, I would bet Foxconn would be my mobomaker of choice for a long time to come..

I would buy DFi or Evga. Others manufacturers can hardly do that good mobos as Quantum-Force did with BloodRage.. For me its one of best mobos I ever had.. That channel should be online someday.. but who knows when..
