Question Do my lapped Q6600 G0 suck? High temps

Hey I have a Q6600 G0 and a Scythe Mugen II to cool it, and I am not satisfied with the temps it delivers (Cant get 3.6 core damage stable, core damage hits mid 60s with 400fsb and crashes after 3-10min)

Now I tried to clock down to 3gz just to see what temps I got.

Temp inside case when meassured is 23c and this is after I modded my case V2110B with 3 new intake fans, one directly ontop of the cpu cooler and 2 infront of the gfx
See THIS for futher info about potitioning.

I use 4 Yate Loon medium fans all at max rpm (Side only runs 1350 for some reason, I blame scythe kaze master, the one on the cpu runs 1470)

The CPU is lapped (I dont get why the temps are so spread (5-8c when clocked at 3.6 and running core damage, thought this would be minimal with lapping) and it runs on a Gigabyte P45 U3DP motherboard.

But is 28c above ambient, so I ask is this a shtty cpu I have?

That's some very high voltages. 1.45vcore should not be neccesary for 3GHz at all, I only use 1.21v myself.

I use 1.35Vcore as you can see CPU Z detects 1.264Vcore

This is 3.0Gz @ 1.35 (Bios set) Vcore with Core Damage after 14min (I know it aint very long) after 20min it was 28c above ambient.

no. i get about 10 degrees higher then yours and this is with True + some ridiculous fan that's really loud lols + the side off etc...
and thats at 1.30v under load... with case ambient of 19/20*C

    try lowering pll

You have about 60c with 3Gz? then I guess my temps are fine?

i'm assuming core damage is a stability test / loading program? 50c load isn't bad at all for a q6600

My Q6600 @3.2GHZ idle at 36c and load at 56c With lapped true i think your fine but you might wanna tweak your voltage.

Try with a little bit lower vcore.

My old Q6600 G0 was running 3 ghz with 1,30 vcore.

100% stable @1.328v but I didn't lap my Cpu and the Cpu VID is 1.3v
56c was after 20 hours 100% load on the Cpu normally it is around 52c for a shorter time.

Good god people, my TRUE/w XLF-F1253 fan holds my CPU temps under 36C with prime95, ambient ~20C, and it's been ages since I last cleaned the TRUE for dust. I don't know how well the Scythe Mugen 2 cools, but I wouldn't feel safe with those temps just because CPU's are suppose to be able to hold up to 70.

I do not think its a ty CPU. Assuming min temps 29-33 and max 46-50 being idle and load respectively. I think more a function of HS, airflow, TIM etc.
Use prime or OCCT for standard reference so we can compare CPU load / heat production
Whats the vcore shown on easy tune at 1.45 and 1.35 for? You may need FSB termination V around 1.38v t0 1.4v for 400 or higher FSB upto 450 FSB
Check your vdroop may be a lot

with my Q 6600 B0, 1.395vcore bios set, I run 40c-42c idle and 65c-66c prime 95 small ftt @ 450X8=3600 stable 24/7. Prime stable and OCCT stable @ 1.40v, prime, occt and linpak stable at 1.425v with load temps 80c-82c all bios voltages not cpuz. ambient 20-22c

TJ max for q6600 B0 is 100c while the the total of your temps and distance to TJ max is 95c on real temp ?

Core damage ran about 10c warmer than prime95 for me, so you might wanna try that instead. Prime95 apparently dont stress your system enough.

But I dont want to lower my voltages, I want to find a stable 3.6 setting and 1.51 in bios is not enough

1.51vcore is not enough for stable 3.6GHz? Anything above 1.5vcore is dangerous and can damage the CPU.

    pics or didn't happen

even water finds it hard to keep under 36C load..

Dito. The stated numbers are very unrealistic, using normal air cooling in a 20°C room. I'm sorry to say, but you either got bogus readings, or you bent the laws of physics. It might sound cool, but as long as it's not real, it's nothing to brag about.

Well I put 1.51 in bios, that means its something like 1.42 under load when CPUZ looks in windows. There is always a Vdrop

for some reason, when i use Everest and CPU-Z, the temps are a ~10c difference, try Everest and see what temps those are saying. Those temps aren't bad for 3.6, but this isn't the case. you have way to much volts for 3ghz. heck I can do it on 1.23v let alone 3.2ghz(but thats because i have a golden q66, lucky me i guess). try resetting the hs and a new layer of tim. (remember only a rice size is more than enough)

agreed, this is very unrealistic, but props to you if its true, but i cant believe it till i see it. unloaded i can see being true, but not at full load.

That is quite abit of vdroop even with your Gigabyte P45 U3DP. I would say, reset everything in your bios, and try it again. move up little by little and take a look at the volts in everest/cpu-z. the only time i went above 1.45v was when i went passed 4ghz.

    let alone 1.408v for 3.9ghz
