    2 Intel x-25m SSD: jbod or raid0

I'm building a new system with 2 160gb intel x-25m's and was wondering what you guys thought of using it in raid vs jbod on an x58 board, (evga classified)

If raid: OS & games on the ssd raid, storage on 3 2tb WD cavairs

If Jbod: os & main apps on 1 drive with games on another.

I currently run a raptor for os and a raptor raid for games. I don't especially like running an OS on a raid array as it can be a pain to install the OS. Has anyone installed win7 on a SSD raid without much of a headache?

Yeh windows 7 is pretty good in that respect. Much better than when I had to do the F6 routine in XP.

How did your install go? I have a pair of 80GB X-25m's on the way and will also be pairing them up with my Classified board.

I'm going with R0 with the W7 RC OS. Just waiting on the post man...

I had no problems whatsoever installing Win7 on my RAID0 X25-Ms

zlojack did you partion your drives for your R0 setup? While doing my homework before buying I noticed some suggested that you do not partion the drives while others reccomended it? I'm installing now and have 149.1GB to work with. I'm going to go with one 25GB partition for the OS and then use the remaining space for everything else.

    I did not.

I just threw it all onto one partition. My impression was that partioning was more beneficial for mechanical drives.

Thanks for your input zlojack. I think your idea will work best given the fact that I don't have any excess space. Partitioning almost guarantees suboptimal use of space. A lesson best learned in advance of installing all of your apps.

Installing Vista Ultimate x64 on a pair of raptors raid 0 with the classified was a breeze. Just enable raid in the bios. Go into the raid manager during boot up and create a raid0 partition.

Is it any different setting up SSD's in raid 0?
