    Project: .:Ragnarök:. ->LianLi v350

Welcome to my first real worklog

I've been planning this build for a long time, since April 2010 to be exact. During that long time my "vision" of the build has changed multiple times. Hardware, case, etc have gone through many different iterations, leaving me with many different parts from all the potential build ideas I had. On top of that, I was busy with school and never really had time to finish anything.
Now, however, I have finally decided on the hardware and the case. I also have enough time this summer to actually complete this project.
Without further delay, here is Project: Ragnarök

I decided to name this build "Ragnarök" because I am slightly (understatement) obsessed with Norse mythology.

    Ragnarök

First off, I decided to mount the Bitspower top on the MCP355.
Here's some pics of the boxes and the actual items.

I picked this particular top because it is smaller than the other ones and I like the aesthetics of it (Bitspower dragon...).

I removed the stock top and mounted the Bitspower one, pretty easy and straightforward.

I then sleeved the wires red and black using the famous MDPC-X sleeving and heatshrink.

Don't make fun of my sleeving, it's my first time doing it...

Didn't get much actual work done. However, I did figure out that the AX750's wires are way too long. Therefore I decided to purchase a Silverstone 1000W Strider PSU along with the shorter modular cable set.

Anyways here are some pics of the case.

The red parts are anodized and the finish is pretty good, the motherboard tray has a sort of candy red look to it, while the drive bay covers are more of a darker red.

I also tested to see if the HD6950 fits into the case, and it does.

Nice start! Usually with aluminum, people just paint parts instead of going through the trouble of having them dyed and anodized.

Just a small update, I received the Silverstone SFF modular cable set today.
Now I just have to wait for the actual PSU (newegg shipped it from California ) and more sleeving to arrive.

All will be revealed in time
As for now, I just got my PSU in the mail, so I will begin sleeving it and also re-sleeving the pump cables (not happy with those). Hopefully the extra sleeving I ordered will be here by next week as well.

However, I've been asking around locally and I may be able to get my Supreme HF re-plated....who knows. Until then though, I guess I'll continue working on the case to keep me busy

Sadly, the red paint on the fittings is not durable at all

Project status unknown in it's current form.
Not really interested in watercooling as of right now.
The eK nickel plating issues etc have sort of disillusioned me...in the end, I just want to game, not deal with these hassles.
Maybe at some later time I will revisit this project, until then: who knows.

Get a Kryos block. It looks sexier anyways..... They come in nickel, but I think the internals are all copper (I'll fact check that later).

I love those red bitspower fittings. I ALMOST bought some. I think my next project will include them. You just gave me an idea! Awesome!
    You must [not] advance.

I really love the cube!! Got one for myself as my HTPC, but no liquid cooled, semi passive air cooling is enough for the HW inside... The colors of the new bitspower stuff seem to fit very well with the anodized aluminium of lian li. really looking forward to see more!

Do you plan to do all internal watercooling?

A shame you cancelled! I do understand being not enthusiastic about the project with the EK situation. It's kind of got a lot of us down about WC'ing at the moment, but I'm sure things will improve later when some new products/blocks get announced.

Yeah, we'll see. I might just wait for the Gene-z to actually be released and then go from there.
Concerning the Kryos, would those compressions work with it? 3/8 id & 5/8 od?

I don't know if I'm going to finish this project yet, but I did want to try out my new toy: 4.5" holesaw

Of course, there are some problems too..... the bay covers do not sit perfectly on the one side, I tried modifying some older black ones (don't want to mess up the red ones) and while it does fit better, it still bulges a bit

Also, two of the screwholes don't line up perfectly, so I will probably have to widen them a bit...
