    Good Luck.
I think it worked. I did an uninstall then reinstall of BOINC and it appears to be working again. It has 4 projects going strong again

    thanks for the help

    hey all! just a Q:
How can i force boinc(6.6.20) to take the wu 's with 'deadline' closer to current date in first place to crunch?
.. or other words my current situation is like:
    - 4 wu's are in work process

    - 16 wu's in queue (waiting) .. and they are scaled:
    --- 11 wu's = deadline 05-07/May/2009
    --- 5 wu's = deadline 30/April/2009

i think, i need to calculate these 5(with short deadline) first .. but
have aligned (re-ordered) them the in client window by ''report deadline'' field so - those with ''nearest deadline'' date are listed upper,
but it still takes next (below) after (any) done an unit .. and grabs new units from servers
    ---
    TIA

    PS! .. ( i am under username/account: i43i43 in wcg )

Interesting..It should take the WU with the earlier deadline dates. it does on mine.
If a WU with say a April 30 finish deadline is running and they send me one with a April 28 deadline it will auto suspend the April 30 WU and start the one with the April 28 deadline.

So my temps just didn't seem right, so I borrowed some of an0nym0us's thermal paste (I think it was AS5 can't remember) and took my HS off. I didn't have enough paste on there to begin with lol. I had used my last bit of mine to mount the TRUE on my i7. I also took the CPU out and inspected this ASUS board (it was open box from newegg and was mysteriously not reading 1 channel of memory)

upon inspection I noticed a couple bent pins and quickly straightened them out. Now the CPU recognizes all 3 channels of memory, which is a relief to me. I wasn't sure if the processor was fried, but now I'm confident it is fine. I managed to get it to run 9.016 superpi 1M at 214x21, bout the same as I got with my Gigabyte board, but it just wouldn't go past 214. Oh well maybe I will run 8's on air another day.

I also noticed ASUS's new BIOS allows me to lock in the multiplier at 21 without using turbo mode, so I reflashed my BIOS.

Now I'm running 191X21 with 1.35 vcore (had it at 1.30 but it somehow restarted itself overnight, so I just set it to 1.35 for now) to see how that goes. It passed Prime95 for a while, with temps staying around the mid 70's, so i hope it is stable enough to run constantly while crunching. I'm sure in a few days I will find the lowest voltage to keep the setup 100% stable.

The program doesn't seem to affect the way my computer works at all, even when I have a bunch of stuff open doing my school work. I'm about to go to class right now to finish up a plant design project and will leave the i7 to crunching for the day. I can't wait til May 16th, as I will be finished with school and ready to get to work. Then I can build a ballin' computer setup lol.
Huh.....you already have a ballin computer

eh I guess it is ok. Here are some pics along with a 3DMark06 and superpi screenshots.

I managed to get within a thousandth of a second of my 9.015 that I got with the same processor in my Gigabyte board, but I haven't really tried hard to push past 214x21 yet.

what percent of the CPU do you guys use?

I notice that my temps jump a lot when my rig crunches. Here is a screen shot of what is going on when I increase the CPU percentage to 100%

don't know if it is good ... but i have put both my machines on-100% CPU usage
    - i have currently older stuff than You ..

well, i noticed - when let them run on 50-60% then vcore (core voltage) was jumping up&down
in every second according to load cycles -- my self thought --
if i can keep constant load on processor (100%) - makes more heat,
but then it will (maybe ?) put less stress on other components .. mobo and its VR system?.. PSu?
    // i have c2d (dual.. e8400) and c2d quad qx9650// keepinig both now @4.05ghz now (9x450) air cooled //

SORRY for my prev. posts in this (Your thread) i didn't want to hijack Your thread
posted my q: when just saw the header '' WCG n00b to folding '' and thought it is just a
''general n00B thread '' sorry i did not delve into upper posts ..

We've had this discussion a long while ago, and agreed that there really is no other setting than 100%. For some laptops with poor ventiltion systems maybe, but not for desktops
Your temps are fine, i7 can go to around 80C tops. One of mine runs between 75 and 78C 24/7... High but not too high. It starts thermal throttling at around 85C by the way, if you have Thermal management enabled in Bios, that is

werd I'm a wuss too hehe. I've just never had a normal program keep my temps this high (other than Prime95 perhaps) on a constant basis. Would it be bad for my CPU or other components to constantly be at 73-75 deg C?

I checked out an0nym0us's Q9400 at 100% and the temps don't nearly get as high. But then again the i7 running 8 threads at 4.0 GHz is doing quite a bit more work than a Q9400 at 3/7 GHz running 4 threads.

btw soon I'll have an E8500 to add to my collection.

For core i7 chips , 75°C is no problem at all.
You can't really compare with S775 quads . Those run alot cooler.

It took me a while before getting used to such high temps.
But like jcool says , don't worry , 75°C is perfectly fine.
