Adding WS resolutions w/o fixing FOV is worse than leaving it out because then ppl will get confused and think that WS is worse than it really is. I hope they still have time to fix this and the folks @ WSGF can help out DICE/EA.

If not, I'm sure the widescreenfixer guy will be able to figure out how to make the app work with 1.50

They definitely should hire the WSfixer guy, I mean, they hired the guy who did bf2s.com, why not him.

    - new map: sux somehow . everything looks just white/grey, the view distance is a disaster, the overall graphics quality of this map is poor imo...
    - widescreen "support": NOTHING has changed from 1.41, except that you can now select widescreen resolutions from the ingame menu instead of using "tweaked" startup parameters. it's still an aweful FOV, and with 1.5 even widescreenfixer doesn't work anymore. so atm: bf2 1.5 is unplayable as a widescreen user.

i'm going to revert back to 1.41. i really hope they'll fix their f-ing widescreen - JESUS, is it THAT hard? they should hire the developer of the widescreenfixer godammit.

I hope it's true WS support, the no-disc option is awesome, i wish other games did this I don't want to go through the trouble of mounting an iso, plus sometimes i heard that can cause problems and you can be accused of cheating.......

    This looks promising, but:
    1) No Windows 7 support.
    2) Questionable widescreen support (correct FOV. Their argument used to be "it would give too many users an advantage, but just look at how many people have widescreen's now.)

I received a real ass whoopin on most maps. Nade fest worse than before I left over a year ago.

    back to PR

hoping BF3 for PC is in the works...but somehow I have a feeling it will just be a console port this time around

True i have to agree with a few others, BF2 and 2142 was half ass coded at best, up to this day at 1.5 i'm still seeing bugs, its a great game reasons being its a great concept but the execution is all wrong. I still play from time to time and its addicting at times. i cant tell how many times i uninstall at being pissed of at bugs and aimbots only to reinstall it again.

Check out my stats, http://www.2142-stats.com/L.Fearon+stats.html, pretty decent player right.

I have yet to see a game released with native support for a beta or unreleased OS...

Not a single game released in H2 2005 had native support for Vista, even though it was already on RC.

This time is kinda different though, since the OS and the drivers are virtually the same. Drivers Pre Vista Launch sucked real bad...

This game should work in Win7.

@widescreen support: a lot of people report this argument from dice "we don't want advantage for ws users" blawhatever , but where did you guys get this information from? link apprectiated
the whole advantage/disadvantage thing is somehow strange, because ws with such a fov is a disadvantage for ws users. so what about the advantage argument now?

however, such a ws "support" (questionable, as this isn't what a would call "support" actually) is useless. it just looks as if you got the monitor stuck on your nose... :F

Should have released this since day one, not 4 years after. But rather late then never. Many people still play this game so its great.

Is there a tweak out to get this game running in 1920x1200? I got to run it in that resolution before, but the patch sort of removed that option.

The new patch sucks, jump prone delay is awful... 0.3 -> 0.7 seconds, I would write a good long argument as to why but I have done it on so many bf2/ea forums over the past couple of days (along with numerous others) I cannot be bothered.

Correcting FOV will give those without widescreen monitors an unfair advantage (I'm well aware the majority have widescreens monitors these days - yes I do...) I'm glad they are not increasing FOV

What about this? Will 1920x1200 be available again?

EDIT: Hell yeah. THey've added support!

them coming with a patch for BF2 after all this time somehow makes me believe that EA/Dice will come with a New BF game based on the same old engine with the same old bugs.

And this patch is just an attempt of EA to test some stuff for the new one.

Prove me wrong EA/Dice and come with a new BF based on a fully new engine. A BF that is beta tested PROPERLY and wont hit retail until the bugs that have been in the game since ever are removed.
