OCZ Summit due end of April

According to an article at Dailytech: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=14286

Numbers stated seem identical to those with firmware 1275 for the Vertex
Thus it begs the question, how are they different?...besides the Samsung controller, one assumes Samsung will supply firmware to OCZ who in turn will modify it etc.

Tis good to have more choice so i guess one should reserve judgement until drives and reviews drop

Are they supposed to be a better drive then the Vertex, or meant for a different kind of application?

I knew the summit's used a samsung controller, but aside from that I could never really tell what they were supposed to be in relation to the vertex drives, higher end, lower end, sidegrade?

In what context "high end"...just due to a more expensive controller?...but if a mid range Vertex with a different controller performs the same, who would buy the higher pricetag product?

I guess it's high end Sequantial Write speed, since it's the only feature marketing seems to care about

more expensive controller used, should eliminate stalls and pauses without needing software tweaks, Anand tested the Summit (with beta FW?) and found it to do "ok" at best, but Vertex was just as good

If Vertex and Summit have identical performance, I think the everyday commoner would choose Summit simply because it has a Samsung controller. Its a brand that people recognize, not Indilinx whom nobody has heard of since Vertex launch. Marketing can go a long way...

I don't understand the point of this drive...
Maybe OCZ made a deal on both sides (controller wise) after the JMicron fiasco, to hedge themselves from any risk.
And now since both controllers have proven themselves OK they are now stuck with following up on both contracts... and hence 2 products almost the same...
    ....

from some past reviews I read, It seems that the samsung controller might be a little faster in random and small writes than the vertex, but the performance is very similar
