    Swiftech Stealth failed

Took the block apart last night and found massive corrosion from the aluminum. Too bad there's only a 1-year warranty on the parts. Pics to follow. Sorry for the cell phone pics, camera isn't here right now ><

Take that Stealth video block out and then call Michelle at Swiftech. Get both the Stealth and Storm replaced with a new GTZ.

    this looks bad

next time you better use some proper corrosion blocker (G48, feser) with mixed loops

but this looks like a apogee GTX and not like a storm

I apologize, the block is a Stealth. Sorry guys!

FWIW, I was using Pentosin and PT_Nuke.

Pentosin is a manufacturer not a product

afaik BASF G48 is the best corrosion inhibiotr out there, innovaprotect is good too, no need to add PT nuke with either of these products

EDIT: temps may increase by up to 1°C with inhibitors but they're a must for any mixed metal setup

    Dear Corey,
Please send back Stealth waterblock (with a copy of this email and a copy of the invoice from where you bought the block) at the Swiftech address below, please use RMA number above as reference. As soon as inspected and found to be factory defect, we’ll send the replacement.

Please email your shipping address and telephone number,

At that time I was using just demineralized water and a few drops of PT_Nuke

But yeah that's how corrosion looks like

Well then it's 2 years I'm not searching for my bill to be sure when i've bought it

But the fact that I was 1 year off doesn't make the problem less awfull

I've used 2 drops of PT Nuke on a little more then 1,2 litre of coolant. It could be less coolant, but I always put 2 drops of PT Nuke in 1 litre of coolant.

The only thing I'm using from Swiftech atm are the MCW60's and MCW-30's, because with these blocks nothing can go wrong (like corrosion) ;P

But the GTZ is a very attractive block with it's new Delrin top.

    Ahh.

Sorry, I guess I've just seen so many GTX top corrosion failure thread, I had the CPU block in mind.

I'm more of a GPU only block type. I've had the MCW-60, then the D-Tek GFX V1, and now I'm going to switch over to the Supreme graphics block.

Wow, kind of funny to see no one brandishing the pitch fork and torches over a factory copper/aluminum product around here anymore. But build a full cover block without standoffs and it is a travesty.

We've already been there, done that. Beat up swiftech over it, and they don't make these blocks anymore, so issue is solved aside from some people still using some of these blocks.

this one tinted blueish, greenish here at the top seem like something other then aluminum.
off of wikipedia on copper down by Corrosion
On old copper roofs a green layer of copper carbonate, called verdigris, can often be seen
    the bottom is different.

Looks more like the aluminum on there went off to the copper

this one isn't a greenish tin and looks more like galvanic corrosion

    just observation.
