The SEX factor for 4870x2 Waterblock

    VS

I'm going to assume there's no performance difference between these two, or one that would matter.....so what does XS choose for my 4870x2 waterblock?

And it's also a crying shame only PPC has this in stock. They want to charge me 16 dollars to ship this thing. WTF?

well, for me, it doesnt really matter btwn e 2, coz they are both sweet, sweet blocks. bt if i had to choose, i wld take e koolance coz i kinda like e fact that you cld see e coolant under e koolance logo. inverted ATX anyone?

most 4870X2 pcbs are black in color, and e koolance silver wld strike a nice contrast to the black.

If i had to choose i would take the koolance. That being said The EK Nickel/Acetal is far sexier than any of the other 4870X2 coolers ive seen. The XSPC is also quite sexy with the DD being the ugliest of the lot.

I think both those blocks look really good in their own way. Question is: Which one will fit the style of the rest of your rig better?

BTW: If you want to see the ultimate sexyness for 4870X2, check out this highly customized watercool block: Link

I voted for the HK since I think it is the best looking gpu block period.

However, I would buy the Koolance since it actually has standoffs.

Surely the G1/4 fitting size and threads would cause them to rethink that. Right?

I kinda like the HK, but if i'm not sure the HK design needs standoffs
But we have seen that some designs allow the mounting to bow the board and sometimes cause shorts.,

So if anyone has used the HK block it wuold be interesting to hear the opinion,'

Plus it would be nice to see the inside of the HK

standoffs can be a huge PITA

alot of people on german hwluxx forum have problems with koolance gt200 series blocks as the standoffs are too high for some cards and temps skyrocket to over 120°

i'd take a non-standoff cooler anytime over a standoff one as i think that i'm not stupid enough to fail @mounting a non standoff cooler and it give me more control over mounting preasure

standoffs are overrated and can cause more problems than a properly installed non-standoff block

BTW: the heatkiller blocks come with spacers so you can chose if you want ultimate mounting preasure or safe installation

then they dont know how to read instructions like they dont know how to do proper tests.

Because koolance includes 2 different thermalpads for you to use in the application. So your suposed to use 1 and see if you got a good mount, if not, use the other.

And Dean told us this about 100 times on this forum and pointed it out on the manual.

Sorry standofff's are uber important. NO Full Cover Block should EVER be purchased by a noob that doesnt have standoffs.

    This is my FIRM advice.

DD's look sexy when you have them in pairs also and have standoffs as well as the lowest flow drop out all the FC cards:

and the problem on german HWluxx forums was that even with the thick thermal pads heat transfer was so bad that users had temps around 100°C, so it's not a RTFM issue like on blocks without standoffs

Because it's PPC. If they didn't usually have stock of items that Sidewinder sometimes doesn't I would never deal with them.

I'm not sure why NaeKuh is so firm on needing standoffs, my EK fullcover for my 8800Ultra is still going and it doesn't have standoffs. I just read the installation instructions and I was fine(watched carefully for any warping).

Get the HK for the looks

Someone explain to me briefly what the point of stand-offs are. Easier mounting? Danger of shorting card?

uhh.. i have no issues getting girls.

Infact i used to hang out with korean actresses and actors and models in my earily years in college.

So me being single is more out of choice and greed, then not being able to get anyone.

If your talking about love, then no, i dont believe in love. But thats me. :\
