Hey all. If anyone has any suggestions to my issue, please, toss me some ideas. Here's the link to the thread. Can't figure out if it's the board or the CPU.

Any other ideas would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

update:
I've been playing with this bios all morning, and I guess my 720be will not unlock. It has an EC Firmware setting in bios for normal or special. Under normal it boots no matter what settings I put under acc. With the ec firmware on special, it will not post under any setting I've tried in acc. Anyone else try this bios yet?

yeah.. we need some user with x3 or x2 cpus to test this special ec thing.
i tried booting with "special" but got no post. i thought maybe itīs my 955 that already is a quadcore, so it wonīt work anyways. but reading u had no luck with ur 720 too makes me think it will not work at all...
where are u 720 and 550 owners??
there already is a 1.4b2 ! iīll flash it tomorrow and see if special ec is working now.

can someone post a link to the 1.4b1 and b2 files and reply if they have tested them.
Registered and got the 1.4b2 good stuff
Oh finally a BIOS that supports unlocking...
Is the 1.4b1/2 stable thus far?

Stay away from 1.4b1... had some wierdness (stuck at FF unless you clr cmos) reminicent of the original pre-retail beta that supported core unlock.
1.4b2 seems to have fixed the extra 1mhz or so bus speed fluctuation issue. Now if you set bus speed to 200mhz it STAYS at 200mhz.. Helps alot when you are pushing the limits and that unstable bus speed can scroo with your stability by edging your cpu/nb/ht-link into unstable territory.
Seems to be still no way to measure temps properly with hwmonitor and some other apps when cores are unlocked.

Yup, but it wasnt a surprise as I have unlocked and overclocked cores with my current X3 720 when I got it back in Feb? (first week the X3 720s were available in the market) on my previously owned Biostar AM2+ mobo.
EC to special and ACC on auto does the trick and should work at all stock settings with 4 cores.
If you have never unlocked cores on your processor before and it doesnt work at stock settings with 4 cores, then I guess maybe yours doesnt have good enough cores.
the problem is mine already has 4 cores itīs a 955be
iīm just curious about why i donīt get a post when i set ec firmware to special.
i have to clear cmos to get it to boot again.
unlocking a 720 should be a surprise on the gd70, cause this "feature" was disabled in all the latest bios releases.

Its not a surprise. It was only a matter of time MSI followed Asus with their "Unleased" ACC and Gigabyte with their "Hybrid" ACC in officially supporting core unlocking in the bios. I even mentioned somewhere else in this forum that I believed the 1.4x bios would be the ones to do it. This was before 1.4 bios was released.
Setting EC firmware to special is for unlocking cores. Obviously it wont work for you since you got no cores to unlock.
It doesn't seem to work for my 720be. I'll try some different acc settings tomorrow, but it looks like my cpu isn't going to unlock.

why donīt u just create an account at msi-forum and show ur apreciation to those guys?
ok.. now we know it works on a 720be. but, does it work on a 550be too?
iīm about to order some ocz lvam4gk 1600 and a 550be. would be really nice if someone could test if the 550 unlocks too.

Any nice OC's on the unlocked 720BE?
I tried unlocking my x3 720BE but it didn't work.
Enabled EC Firmware, put ACC on Auto and system wouldn't even post.
Should I try increasing voltage, or did I just do it wrong?

and dose the realtec nic do hyperV properly

I have a Dell Perc 5/i Controller on the bottom slot, and I want to make sure its running at 8x

Well everything has been stable at 3.6 for a while, now all of a sudden I've been having daily BSODs. Usually happens overnight so it is sitting there in the morning. Weird...
