    $750 dollar limit

i will just post this here.... i mean, it's generally hardware that i want lol....

    right

anyways, i need x3 cpu atleast, the 2.6ghz x3 is fine.

cross fire is a plus, unless for the same price sli is faster.

i'd like a mother board that supports ddr3

and one with ability to do x4 with my x3

    need a new psu

prolly 2-4 gigs but i like 32 bit so 2 gigs is fine too.

Ughh. Stay away from Cooler Master PSUs. Silverstone, Enermax are good.

Also, you don't need DDR3. Current Phenoms don't show much performance difference. You're getting better performance by using DDR2 and more of it!

BTW, if you can wait till mid april or so the new Radeons launch. You can probably get one of those, or get a couple current ones cheaper.

You don't want to enable the core on an X3. It's an X3 for a reason. The chip consumes more power than required, or the core is faulty so its disabled. There is no reason for AMD to sell an X4 as an X3 for cheap. They're actually recycled chips.

    2 x HD4830 ($90 ea) are great in crossfire. Cheap performance. I'd go for a single HD4870 1GB or 2GB myself.

ddr3 now may be slow, but ddr2 was barley faster than ddr1 when it first came out.

    4850x2 sounds interesting hmmm

beef. i know they aren't supposed to be x4's that's why it's fun.

all amd setups are welcomed keep suggestions coming. thanx for suggestions too

    edit

noticed 2 4850's is cheaper than the cheapest 4850x2 with slow memory ( 1786 ) and a cheap 4850 is 1986 mhz for ram. i can do without a hard drives aren't nessicary so u know....

So you're buying DDR3 now because in 4 years new DDR3 kits will come out that will make an actual performance difference...

IMO They're already here. DDR3 1600 Cas 7 > DDR2 800 Cas 4 so as long as you avoid the earlier released cas 9 stuff, you're fine.
