AMD introduces new version of Stream SDK

The ATI Stream Software Development Kit (SDK) is a complete development platform created by AMD to allow you to quickly and easily develop applications accelerated by ATI Stream Technology. The SDK allows you to develop your applications in a high-level language, ATI Brook+. The Brook+ compiler and runtime layer handle the low-level details for you so that you can concentrate on implementing your algorithms on the GPU. Brook+ is built on top of ATI Compute Abstraction Layer (CAL), which gives you low-level control and programmability of the hardware.
    What’s New in v1.4-beta

    * Significant feature enhancements to Brook+:
o Support for multiple GPUs in a single program.
o Support for 8-bit and 16-bit integer types.
    o Interoperability with DirectX API.
o Access to thread-level data sharing.
o Improved support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
    * Performance enhancements to the Brook+ runtime:
o Support for memory pinning to optimize data transfers.
o Support for asynchronous stream write requests.
    * Additional hardware features exposed in CAL:
o Support for texture sampling (bilinear).
    o Support for FETCH4.
    * Support for the ATI Radeon HD 4870X2 and 3870X2.
    * Support for the ATI FirePro 3D V8750, V8700, V7770, V7750, V5700 and V3750.

Is this the same as their converter, i.e. their version of Badaboom?

i'm pretty sure this is what they use to make ATI's version of badaboom. its a beta too so i'm not holding my breath on them updating their stream program.

i don't know what you mean with "full 800sp's" but there's already a f@h gpu client for ati cards.

yes, but the current client only uses 320 sp's.

Support for multiple GPUs in a single program.

And the F@H clients use 800 SPs. But thread level data sharing for the RV770 should recoup quite a lot of lost performance relative to the F@H CUDA client.

I guess I should have worded my question a little better. ATI released their version of Badaboom this past December, it was referred to as Stream. Therefore does this release improve upon that aspect or is it strickly for their development kit? They were having a lot of issues with Stream and 64bit compatibility and it would be nice if they addressed this.

    That was AVIVO.

    Stream is like CUDA.
