So I suppose that would confirm something that some of us have already said for sometime....single TECs for direct die cooling has had it's day...the TDP's are too high...untill we have bigger TEcs but then you get a problem powering the things.

Only way forward on TECs is to build a chiller...

now i'm using Freezone Elite and a Eliminator chiller.

i got two new MadMouse Glaciator TCT's TEC units to play with to :

They have a habit of periodically posting adds in forums

SO lest summariser both sized of the top cool discussion

Firstly we’ll take the issues that top cool cannot refute because they come from TEC manufactures secs

1 top cool units don’t use a heat spreader on both side of the TEC. This means that Top cool units aren’t applying even pressure to the TEC’s entire surface. Most of their surface has NO pressure.

Pressure is required to be applied to the entire surface of the TEC because magnetic forces are trying to push the TEC apart.

2top cool rates their units at 45- 50c hot side temps. They do this because increasing the hot side temp increases the achievable delta and watts moved. Which means their units look more powerful than what they are @ a more realistic 20-25c

Right now for practical issues

There is no condensation management / insulations os when the chiller goes sub dew point it’s gonna bet very wet

Their Chillers are very large for their cooling power

Given all the above their chillers aren’t cheap

I've tried the 226W S775 TEC by Swiftech on both C0 and D0 chips. I can cope with heat being pumped out by the i7 @ 4.5Ghz in "normal" conditions nicely hitting no more than 40C while gaming but it can't cope with stress proggies such as Prime/LinX.

Here's a screenshot of my old 940 C0 that could barely do 4.2Ghz on air and 4.3Ghz on water with HT OFF. By the way could somebody tell me the heat output of an i7 at 4.5Ghz and say, 1.475V? That's what my D0 used to run at while being cooled by the 226W TEC.

By the way i fed the TEC 12V from PCI-E line (1000W Silverstone PSU) using my custom 6-pin cable. No probs with overheating wires.

Your CPU is using about 246 watts in that pic which is why a 226Qmax TEC can't get the job done

But i have to agree with ultra.. it didnt sound like you were asking him.. it sounded like you were trying to teach him.
Which is probably why he got mad.

But heres a long lesson i learned from all my years of tec research, and play.

1. They dont work unless u mass them.
2. They work a ton better when you run them at a lower voltage.
3. They work the best under water because of waters capacity to hold heat, and they work awesome when you mass them downvolted.
4. You are asking for it if you plug one into your psu molex. A power spike in your grid can mean it frying, even tho u dont feel it getting hot.
5. Mass them and down volt them.

Did i tell you, you need to mass them and downvolt them for them work real good? :X

Where can I get water blocks like this? I'm planing to use two Qmax 331W TECs.
