    I havent seen one.

If you can give me a high res pic of the memory voltage regulation I can look into it.

Well I got some pictures of the board, but I have no idea which chip it is... lemme link you. This is from a while ago, and when I asked, everyone was stumped as well... perhaps some light will be shed as to which it is this time around.

    Ok,

    I think I have it.

The chip we are looking at is the FAn5063 in your pic.
    http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/FA/FAN5063.pdf

Pin 7 is the FB pin into a classic resistor devider.

I cant see where any of the traces on the board go due to the horrid gold PCB so you will have to look with your eye.

I have coloured what I think is 7 in this pic, providing that I have the chip orientation correct, you should double check this first as im not sure if the "dot" I see on one corner is the pin1 ID dot or just some splashed flux... so be carefull.

Start with a big VR (1MO is my prefered) and drop down if there is little effect once you hit 500k, and so on that way you stay safe.

EDIT - THE ABOVE IS INCORRECT.. I SCREWED UP.. SEE BELOW FOR FIX

That looks more like the vTT area than the vDDQ area holst. Could be wrong though - that pcb is a pain in the ass. The ampage of that FAN vreg seems a little low is all. If it was vTT itd be fine, but as a total vdimm controller itd seem to be a bit lacking.

Any chance of a photo of the lower end of the dimm slots?

It could be, its hard to tell without testing the board with a meter.
Im pretty sure im right, soltek will use what works it wont necicaraly be impressive looking. Wont hurt to look elsewhere though just to be sure.

A wider angle pic would definatley help, thanks sysfailur.

I will try to do the mod at pin 7 but from the chips technical specifications I am not sure if pin 7 is the right pin. The pin you show with the arrow is indeed pin 7 (top left is pin 1). What should pin 7 stand for?

This is what pin7 is according to the data sheet.

SLP_S3. Control signal governing the Soft Off state S3. Internal current source pulls this line high if left open.

Any ideas if pin 7 is the right pin? I got a 1MÙ vr and I will try to do the mod but I need to confirm if this is the right pin.

I dont know why I said 7, thats totaly wrong...

I was thinking page 7 of the PDF.. must have got confused when writing it up... thanks for checking tristento.

If you look at the PDF page 7 pins 12 and 13 are connected to the resistor devider... a VR from pin 12 to ground should do it..

Sorry for the prior confusion... stupid me.

Your link is bad, can you make your pic smaller (or cut it into two bits) and upload it to the forum.

Is pin 12 to pin 11 via VR, fine?

Thanks for the reply Holst. In the meantime I got a DFI so no need for moding. However I am very interested to see if anyone finally makes the vdimm mod. I might even get my mobo back!!

I see this board with RAID cheap here in Japan. What does the VCORE and VDIMM go to in the BIOS? Any chance of adjustable VDD?

Golden Flamer has performed this mod. He writes about it here on page 21, 22 of the thread. He also said that he added capacitors, an inductance wire and a connection of his 3.3 volt to one of the mosfet drains for additional voltage stability. We hope that he'll post more details on what exactly he has done.

    Cheers,

    Here I Am!
I'm Italian, sorry if I write bad english
    Read my signature!
My system pass all PRIME95 torture test and my board is Rock-solid stable.

I can raise V-dimm Voltage up to 3,25V!

Wait for next week, I Prepare a guide.

HOLST: your solution work Ok but it is not sufficient to guarantee system stability, there is another two issue to fix.

    I post details next week!

Have a question here. GF uses the 3.3v rail to feed more volts to the FET, otherwise vdimm won't pass 3v. I am assuming this 'cause I have a costumer's Soltek here for modding and, after doing the vdimm mod with a 200k trimmer, the thing won't go above 3v.

What is the possibility of feeding the FET with the 5v rail? Any risk in doing so?
