    G3/8" -> G1/4" adapters for PA120.X rads?

Does anyone know where I can find some G3/8 to G1/4 BSPP adapters so I can slap 45' rotaries on my second rad? I have serious clearance issues in my current build.

    halp!

I couldn't find anything from mcmaster, the only G3/8 -> G1/4 fittings I saw there were NPT threaded. I also checked jab-tech & petras (PTS is local to me so they're my first source for most things) but they didn't have anything like a G3/8 to G1/4 stepdown.

Want to bring this one back up. I see mention that someone had a 3/8 NPT to G1/4 fitting somewhere? I have an old MCR320 that I would love to be able to use G1/4 fittings on. Any links? I didnt see them when I just searched PTS, JabTech, PCPs, etc.

You can jam the 3/8 bspp adaptors in there with tape.

Eddie I just went through this on my last build.
I got the BP ones from sidewinders but they
were a little loose so I ended up getting the ones
from Petra's and they fit much, much better.

Loose because the threading is too short or O-Ring is not thick enough?

The threads on the BP is actually a smaller diameter than what the international specification for a G3/8 thread should be. I went thru two from Gary before we realized that it was BP who made the thread smaller. That's why if you wrap enough tape on it it will work. The one from Petra's fit nice and snug right from the beginning and no tape was required. Gary does have the other one that is supposed to be for a Eheim that might work.

    This one works guaranteed:

    This one might also work:

I could have sworn that early MCR's were 3/8" NPT not G3/8. Im not crazing thinking that those are different am I?

I just want to put some of me compression fittings on my old MCR320

You are correct. I use 3/8 npt barbs on mine
When I said G3/8 adaptors, I meant jam them in there with a little tape lol. A few people on here used G3/8 barbs on the Npt threading with a little tape. They said no leaks, but it's buyer beware at that point.

Hmmm I thought NPT wa far enough off that it would not work. I will have to give that a shot. I just hate my current brass barbs I got at Lowes, want to put some fatboys or compressions on it. Thanks

Thanks much for the heads up. I was about to tear down my loops to exchange the Petra's fittings for the BP ones (just to match the other fittings). I won't waste my time or chance a leak now.

I may do this too, but not with the initial G3/8 bitspower fitting. The initial bitspower fitting has too short a thread and imho will leak. I'd get what Dave recommended (g3/8 to g1/4 adaptor from petras) and then use a standard G1/4 bitspower fitting in the adaptor.
The fitting that 2 people I know jammed into the npt was an aquaxteme G3/8 fitting which has a longer G3/8 threading. I suppose the Ek G3/8fitting would also work as well, since it also has long threading.

Guys, I linked to a (BSPT)R3/8" to G1/4" fitting in post #10. Why use parallel threads on a taper when you can use a tapered?

Oops, I must of skipped over this one. Thanks for posting.
Honestly, I don't it would do him any good since he wants to ditch the brass npt barbs for bitspower barbs.
I have a nickel plating kit on the way, so this will work great, thanks
