DDC mounting options?

What are the two holes in the bottom of a ddc/mcp355 (image, lower left, 2.52")?



The inclusion of this particular dimension kind of suggests a use of some sort, eh? Nowhere does it say "do not block" or anything like that. The foam pad supplied with the pump is generously, cut away in order to clear them. Are these holes an optional prevision for mounting? I could really use the extra space from removing the obvious mounting "wings" sticking out from the sides.

By the way, we covered all the comical possibilities for these holes in my earlier thread about the condition of the 4 screws on my pump so...

these are legacy mounting holes.
