    PSU whinning

so okay, my 3 year old ULTRA 500W psu started whinning recently. Do you guys know why this happens? Any way to fix it? I also recorded the sound if it helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmdRQ_qb_8c

whining PSU's are never a good sign. could be going bad or theres a massive accumulation of dust buildup in it.

i would start looking for a replacement, ASAP

Whining is usually either a transformer going bad, or a capacitor going bad.

Time for a new supply, my friend! It -might- be fine for a while, my computer ran for about 6 months on a whiny supply. But if it does pop, don't be horribly surprised if it doesn't damage other hardware.
