Sapphire HD4850 X2: Price and loudness reduced

Sapphire announced in a press release that the prices for the two HD4850 X2 models have been reduced. Furthermore the cards are quieter than before.

Sapphire has officially reduced prices for its exclusive Ati Radeon HD 4850 X2 - currently there is no other manufacturer offering this dual CPU graphics card. The 2 GiByte version now costs 280 Euro, the 1 GiByte version 240 Euro. The price comparison of our German website confirms this information - however, there the cards are much lower priced than at the time of release.

Why has Sapphire been the only ones with the 4850x2s out?
    i3 2100, MSI H61M-E33. 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws.
MSI GTX 460 Twin Frozr II. 1TB Caviar Blue.
    Corsair HX 620, CM 690, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Sapphire made the card, it wasn't an AMD design. AMD gave freedom of movement to its card sellers/manufacturers so they could do what they wanted with the design, afaik.

I think, up to this moment, there's no real support from AMD for HD 4850X2 card, outside Sapphire which could be considered biggest ATi partner, no other partner is willing to take the risk producing and supporting this card.

With only one maker of the x2 card, there's no competition to reduce the price. Hopefully it will come down in price naturally over time.

    Water cooled- CPU: Fuzion v1 / Laing D4 / Bonnieville Heatercore + MCR120

For sale: AMD 4200+ Toledo / ASROCK DUAL SATAII
