I'm using x6 build 7000 for a month or maybe more on my notebook. There is a noticeable difference in performance compared to Vista. Most importantly, after I installed the OS, all the hardware worked properly without installing any driver.

It's true, that's a huge security risk. All someone has to do is compromise your computer and gain access to your files, then they could... wait...

I guess there's potential they could gain access to bank info or something, but most people I know click the "remember me" option anyway, thus screwing even that. Besides that though, if they have access they can get the info without that feature.
Dual CCIE (Route\Switch and Security) at your disposal. Have a Cisco-related or other network question? My PM box is always open.

Are you talking about "1. Problem Steps Recorder"?
It seems to be disabled by default and you have to activate it manually.
I guess the danger would be if someone bypasses your security and can use it.
Hopefully it can be uninstalled, but I don't see this likely with MS

It's a beta. MS isn't going to remove tools useful in diagnosing problems from a beta. Especially to the general public--they want to hear about issues and that thing makes it a lot easier for them to do so.

The recorder is not only meant for Microsoft, it may also be useful to system administrators. When someone discovers an error/crash, he or she could record the process that leads to that error/crash and then the system administrator can examine this error whenever he wishes to. Can be a lot easier than explaining what you did to get to the error/crash in some cases. Ofcourse it is also beneficial to Microsoft and this feature will stay in Windows 7.

Wow, did they actually add stuff this time? Based on what I'm reading I'm actually excited about this. It seems like this time they sat down and thought 'What would I like a computer to do?' where as normally it feels like they think 'What do I have to change to make this marketable?'

edit: It feels like they're actually competing.

Meh. As far as it goes, if your computer is compromised you're done anyway. Once its compromised they can set up route tables pointing towards false web pages completely transparently, trojans, keyloggers, etc.

Given that, I can't think of a reason for someone to really care (when we're talking about a personal computer), short of maybe a guy losing his laptop.

I see sysinternals lived their mark on Windows 7. A wise acquisition by Microsoft.
