Arrow [Project] Water-Cooled HAF 932, Painted Satin Black

OK, I've finally got all the parts. Everything has worked out perfect. I just started tonight, I'll be taking my Sig Rig, and making it into a Water-Cooled HAF.. Yet to be named, but I have some idea's for it. (Gotta HAF Water, Darker HAF, My Better HAF, things like that. lol) *Open to suggestions*

Anyways, I'll start with a picture of the goods, and then the case. Feel free to comment, leave constructive criticism, give me idea's. and ask questions.

    FINISHED PICTURE

OK, Here's the Case, Just got it in the mail.

Parts from left to right, Top to bottom.
    1. Cable Clamps
    2. Sleeving Kit, Shrink Tube
    3. Zip Ties 100pk.
    4. Masterkleer 15ft. 7/16 ID
    5. Yate Loon D12SM, 120mm Medium 71CFM 33dbA x 4
    6. Dual 12" Cold Cathode UV Tubs
    7. Swiftech MCP-655 D5 Pump
    8. Pentosin G11 UV Blue Dye, PT-Nuke (Kill Coil in Mail)
    9. PTS 3x3" Gel Stuff, For pump mount
    10. Swiftech Micro Res v2 w/ DD Fatboy (High Flow 1/2 Barbs)
    11. More DD Fatboy 1/2 High Flow Barbs
    12. Swiftech Apogee GTZ Block w/ Same barbs
    13. Black DD Fillport (Mounting in top of HAF)
    14. Rust-oleum Black Satin Paint for inside case
If your wondering where the RAD is, I had the PA120.2 and had to sell it. I will have the Feser TFC 360 Tomorrow.

OK, Now to start. I've decided to paint the case Satin Black, and I just applied my second coat of primer.

    Painting Side Panels

I'll cut out the rear 120/140mm fan Grill to help with airflor and cut down on noise.

Check out my work area, and see my Kayaks. During the summer I take those out about once a week. It's amazingly fun.

More pics of my parts I'll be using, so everyone doesn't need to ask. (I hate imageshack) What's better to use?

All my parts that were removed from the HAF 932 for painting. Patiently awaiting going home.

This is it for tonight, More to come tomorrow. Thanks for looking. Feel free to comment.

well, thats just the primer, and the Black Satin has some clear coat in the bottle already so it won't really help any. the guy at home depot said it would be a waste of time to do it that way. Just use the spraypaint and be good. He said do 5-7 light coats instead of 3 thick ones, and no need for a clear coat after..

I'm going to sand a little today now I have 2 coats of my main black satin, Get that orange peel away. then go ahead and finish this job for today, and post pics tonight.

    Thanks!

So, Like the above post, I got a lot done, but not many pics. I went ahead and got up this morning and did another coat of Satin Black at about 10 in the morning. around 1:30 I did some Wet Sanding with some 1000 grit paper, just lightly, nothing to severe. and then I let it dry, helped it with my Compressor of air.. haha. And then I did another coat, and so on.

So today I did 3 more coats, for a total of 5 coats to my CM HAF inside. It looks really good, and I think the sanding really helped smooth it out, so I don't have too much of that orange peel look to it. but I didn't do it to the last 2 coats. plus I'll use grease where you take the panel off to help with scratching.

Anyways, enough talking, Here are the pics.

    My new RAD.. I'm exited.

Here are some pics of my Fans, like said above. I got the Yate Loon Medium speed fans, and I went ahead and sleeved all them today. I love the sleeve job, Looks so clean.

    Close up on the sleeving.

And thats about it for now, I took a few more pics than that, but I'll have to do some editing in Lightroom tomorrow and remove some of the marks from the dust in the Sensor on my Nikon D40, to bad amazon's shipping is slow, or I'd have my sensor cleaner already. ;( I have to take all the shots at a low enough f/stop in order to not see the dust marks, but soon I'll have that fixed.

More pics to come tomorrow as I put the case back together.

    Thanks for watching.

Oh hey, I just got some of that same sleeving from Fry's last night. It's great stuff. I don't know how you're cutting it, but I've been cleaning up the ends with a soldering iron. Absolutely no chance of fraying after that. Great job on the fans.

    yeah but..
if you are addicted to coke, you get a bleeding nose,
if you are addicted to sleeving, you get painful, sore, bleeding fingers
nice project! I like those cases.

well, performancepc's you cang et fans sleeved already for you.. great buy, but I did them by myself, and I'll post pics of the other connectors tomorrow..

Yes, sleeving is addictive, I want all my wires to be sleeved now.. all of them.

Thanks everyone, and yea, I just used a lighter to seal the sleeve ends. I'd barely get it warm and use my finger to open the end a little, then seal it off better. then just use it after that. Then I used a lighter for the heatshrink tubing also. Might as well. It works.

as for taking the drive bay locks out. you need to start with like the top left side. and push down as hard as you can without breaking it, and it will pop out, it has to clear the plastic edge, then do the otherside and your good. I did that on the first few, my fingers got tired, but then I started just doing that, with a screwdriver inside helping my push them over the metal lip's that are in the way. So it went very fast, I hear the trouble is adding them back on without scratching my new paint job. lol. I'm sure I'll figure it out though.

More pics of sleeving, and the case with finished paint coming tomorrow, I drank to much jack tonight to actually do work. lol.

    Thanks, stay tuned!

I have not decided yet on that, any idea's or suggestions would be nice.. I only have 4 matching fans at the moment. I dont wanna put 3 medium fans on one side, and 1 on the other along with 2 high speed. that would be all wacked out...

I have the 120mm Yate Loon Medium speed fans from Petra's. and I was planning on just mounting the RAD up top. I was going to put the fans on the top of inside of case. and then mount the RAD to the fans. So it would go top, Fans, RAD.. and have the air being sucked into the case. but that would be a Push config.. but I've been told that pull is better, but then I also don't wanna be pulling warm air from inside my case and from my GPU's through my RAD and out the top of my case, as that wont yield the best temps.. So what does everyone suggest.. depending on how everything goes, I might get 3 more of the YL mediums for a Push Pull config.

So is pull better than push

but mesh on the roof covers only 2 fans
3d would be covered with plastic part

on other hand, those mesh is very wide so how will rad looks when it'll be lot of space on the sides?

From Martin "Push Vs Pull - This depends on fan speed/power. The high speed fans at 2000RPM with a 38mm fan thickness provided the best performance in a push condition. The slow speed fans with 1350RPM with a 25mm fan thickness provided the best performance in a pull condition. I would estimate that performance line is likely to cross in the 1500-1700RPM range where they are equal. So.... slow speed = pull, high speed = push, medium speed = it doesn't really matter."
