Well see at stock it was working and right when i would OC back to that it would error out. I got it set at core/800,shader/1943 and memory 1150 and it seems to be doing fine right now.

And Shadow I am sorry I totally missed your response, but thank you for your help.

I have had the same thing. main rig froze up outta the blue when its been fine for over a month strait. other system actually got a BSOD, but didnt have to lower shaders. I just rebooted and has been ok since.

I think its partially the weather getting warmer. But in my case could be cpu oc anlong with shader oc. will continue to monitor

@HC did you shut down the client before you changed your clocks? I know if you are using precision; and change while running it can cause it to error

That Mushkin has 4 20a rails. Nice PSU. I think I may go the GTS 250 route.

    Thanks

I did it while running and while it was shut off. I am running fine now though so who knows what the problem was. It may just be the warm weather now and having the windows open even though my downstairs usually stays pretty cool.

    Who knows though.

Keep in mind that just because it has 4 20A rails does not mean that it has a combined load of 80A. I think the Mushkin psu get pretty good reviews though.

Did anyone mention the model of the Mushkin? I will see if i can find you a good review of it, oh wait; are you going to be running your corsair?

I am probably gonna run the Corsair, just trying to figure out what I can safely run on it. EVGA gives amp and watts for 1 GPU but usually not for 2. On the 9800GTX+ they say 24a 500 watt for 1 and 30a 550 watt for 2. So the 24a must be system total and the card itself must be around 6. So I guess if a GTX 260 takes 36a a second one will not need 72. I mentioned the Mushkin because I was comparing 4x20 compared to 1x60 and he is running 3 ok. I feel ok with 2 GTS 250s on it and I guess I can put my KillaWatt on it and see what it is doing then decide if I can go three.

I hope I am making sense.

^^^ makes sense; wish I could be of more help. all I can tell you is I am currently running 2 gtx 275's on my antec CP-850 psu. 850w rated at a max load of 64A...so Im guessing you could run 2 easily and probably 3 easily on a 60A psu!

ON a side note; I got another GTX 275 in today; will be shipping out my gtx 260 192 for step up on monday.
Check this out....I installed my new gtx 275 and I was wondering why the shader clocks were different; turns out that the stock clocks on this vanilla card are actually SC clocks. not like its a big deal, but It looks like somehow they gave me a SC card tagged as vanilla for the cost of a vanilla card. granted a sc card is only like $10 more, but Im not complaining

I've just had to change MB and, as before, the System Idling figure is the tough one to figure. With a Kill-a-watt each card added (from idle to Folding) needs around 70-75watts (w=I*v)

I think of the gx2 as 2 98gtx's, later I will post all the power figures I can for my setup.

not all gts 250s have just one 6 pin power connection there a lot of them that
have two 6 pin connection so keep that in mind when building so if you decide
to try another brand thats cheaper than the evgas check the pin connection out.

Well whatever my problem was it is gone now. I seem to be going pretty good for a single 9800GTX+ and Q66 so far.

Ok I have another question. My Q6600 is running SMP and CPU F@h and I see all these other people post pictures of there F@hMON and showing 1000+ PPD on them. My thing is I am only getting 200 to 300 ppd. Is there something I have done wrong here or what? I have checked log file and I have never ran into a problem here so is it the two conflicting and slowing each other down or is that a normal PPD. I am clocked at 3.2GHz right now.

Sure it's smp? sounds like a single cpu instance from the ppd. did you put the -smp addition into the shortcut?

When I'm running 2*SMP on a 6600@3.2 my figures are around 1700ppd each on 1753points or 2144points units (with 2*GPU running) on XP

    Personal Best

Did a personal best yesterday (6/22/2009) of 7,357 points.
Not bad for an ATI machine with a noob at the helm.

Right now FahMon is reporting I'm getting 4958PPD and that's with two 2900XTs with core clocks at 802MHz and a Q6600 stock. I think I'm going to OC the Q6600 to push it up over the 5k PPD mark. I also have my PS3 folding. No idea how much that's pushing out...

Oh and hopefully I'll get my gaming rig built soon so then that will be running two 4870X2's and an I7 920. Everything will be on water too so I'll be able to OC it quite a bit.

With my e4300 at 3.0ghz and my 8800gts at 290/1500/850 I'm doing about 4500ppd and I'm going to start folding again with my 60gb PS3 which is a power hog.

The 4870x2 is not all it is cracked up to be.
For a combination of gaming and folding I would go with an Nvidia card.
Especially since most X58 motherboards will do either SLI or Crossfire.

I am not a real Nvidia fan, but for folding they kick ATI butt.

Here is my system build thread on my clans website.

I've heard they aren't the best for folding but it's primarily a gaming rig. I do have two other PCIx slots in the case after I get my 2nd 4870X2, one of them will be filled with a RAID card at some point but I was thinking of possibly putting in a 295 dedicated to folding and have my 4870X2's in CFx for gaming (and folding when not being used)

If this is a gaming rig.
The 4870x2 is a good card, but the eVGA EVGA GTX 295 Hydro Copper is currently the best production card on the market.
Here is a good website that has unbiased reviews and good benchmarks.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/g...tals,1196.html
When I put my two 4870x2's into crossfire and did some gaming benchmarks the performance increase was almost negligible. The only thing that was substantial was how much power was being used.

    Just a thought.

Yeah but I can get a 4870x2 on Newegg for $350 right now and the 295GTX is still $530 plus I would need to figure out what to do with my current 4870X2 and I would just be losing a LOT of money. It's liquid cooled on it's own loop anyway so I'll OC it like there's no tomorrow.

Do you fold with the 4870x2?
I had a hell of a time getting mine to fold.

I don't have the rig up and running yet. Still need my CPU, RAM and HDDs + all my liquid stuff... It's going to be a few months

EDIT: On a side note... HOLY . So originally I had my rig set up with my GPU2 and SMP clients priority set to low and I went through and re-read the SMP configuration guide and it recommends having it on idle and I thought that makes sense, if the video cards need to use the CPU at all then it would slow them down a bit... so I set it to idle and my video cards went from 1000, and 1250 PPD each to 2060PPD each! My Q6600 dropped down to 2000 from 2600 though but it was showing 1950 last night before I left anyway so I have a feeling that will bump back up but now my total PPD from the rig went from ~4500 to ~6000 =D

Are you running command clients or GUI clients?
I used the GUI clients at first but now I am trying to get the command clients running correctly.
Seems if I push the GPU clocks up even a little bit it starts throwing errors right and left.
Also are you running the Multi-SMP or the single CPU client.
    I am so confused.
