US will have 2, one team is the freestyle champion last year, the other one
will come out from NA regional final ( semi-final), total has 2 present NA.
from europe same case, one is last year battle for best P45 winner(sweden), and one will be out from regional final.
pan-asis & china, each area has one team for worldwide final(taipei)
so, total has 6 teams will join the final competition in taipei.

When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.
Our qualifier looks like this:
How the qualifying will work
The qualifying will end on Sunday, 8 March 2009 at 00:00 (GMT+2)
The qualifying will be online only. Competitors will run a series of benchmarks and depending on their score will be awarded points for having a top 5 result.
Competitors will need to run the following benchmarks.
3DMark 2001SE 3.3.0
3DMark 2006 1.1.0
Aquamark 3
Super PI 1.5 mod XS
Points will be awarded as follows.
1st place - 8 points
2nd place - 5 points
3rd place - 3 points
4th place - 2 points
5th place - 1 point
Qualifying rules & restrictions
General Rules
All submissions must be uploaded to SystemShock and be accompanied by a screenshot as well as a link to a valid hwbot submission.
All benchmarks are to be run on their default settings.
In the event of a tie the person with the highest 3DMark 2006 score will be crowned champion.
Prizes are not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
Competition is open to residents of the Republic of South Africa only. You must be living in RSA at the time of the qualifying.
In line with hwbot rules the following is also not allowed;
mipmap tweaking
any software or human interaction altering the perceived speed of the benchmark program, tricking it to believe it ran faster
wireframe hacks: any software or driver causing a benchmark program not (properly) render the textures
rendered image differs too much from the original due to other software tweaking
Screenshot requirements
Screenshots must comply with hwbot standards.
Hardware restrictions
Motherboard brand must be GIGABYTE
Graphics card brand must be NVIDIA
CPU brand must be Intel
Only single slot graphics cards may be used
No I7 or quad core processors may be used
Exactly this should be an open competition for anyone to give it a shot... And the qualifications should be kept to tweaking skills like a 32M low clock challenge or 2001 LCC. That eliminates having to bin hardware and eliminates freak cpus making one team impossible to beat. (while at the same time keeping costs down for gigabyte - no LN2 needed, no binning of hardware needed, etc)
I dont see how they can call it a championship with private invitations and no qualifiers
yo gautam, i understand your point of view, but a good tweaker who has never ran ln2 before will win the low clock challenge but fail horribly at a World Wide event under pressure and new to ln2. best tweaker doesnt define The Best overclocker is what i mean. (who knows if the guy beating hipro5 because he has i7 and 1x280 knows how to run ln2 at a competition vs all the pro's, or have run ln2 at all, and we know hipro is no weak tweaker so he gave his best entering) i could be completely wrong, i do not know the guy so sorry if im wrong!!
-tweaking
-insulating
-know how during ln2 (troubleshooting, coldbug controll etc) [you should know you ran 2x4870x2 on ln2, its tough not all can do it)
-vmodding
-gpu freezing
etc.. if you have all those you should go through, but yea hardware varies allot, and comps will never be fair enough (someone will always be unhappy)
but i understand not everyone has hardware to compete vs a guy with 6ghz dual core. but there is no way to make overclocking a 100% fair sport .
This card i bought with my own money to enter ;p.. im stil in school so not much funding, but luckily i get sponsors for other things like motherboards !
System for this weekend to enter:
Ep45T Extreme (640 fsb+)
E8600 ln2
9800gx2 ln2
should give me good global 2001 while im at it!

You are right.
That's why the final scores will be "verified" by bringing in the contestants after the contest ends to let them perform their magic live and see if they did nothing wrong and they're on par
Modding, insulating & LN2 "control" capabilities are also needed, so a check up on that is recommended
By the way, I'm the guy

oooh SHIZ!!
sorry man! see what i mean, from my side i just saw an air system and someone i didnt know ;p
sorry zowner did not mean it
thanks for agree'ing
No need to apologize Vivi
You did nothing wrong, just stated the not so obvious ( but reasonable of course ).
Unless someone borrows me a nFORCE 790i motherboard I'll play with single card and i7 more than likely just to give Hipro5 some competition.
Since Hipro5 is competing in the Single-GPU category, his partner will be drawn from the Multi-GPU category, so it'll be Stelios, gprhellas, dread77, or me ( if I find a 790i board since SLI isn't working with the X58 chipset in 3D Mark2001SE ).
Hope to meet you there man

awesome man
hope to see you there!
which countries are going to thailand pre-finals?
Not a fan, those of us that enjoy brute forcing benchmarks get left out. I don't care if my efficiency is 90% of the next guys if my frequencies and mods yield 110% higher performance. This might always be my downfall but it's more fun building crazy contraptions to cool random stuff
BTW the Hungarian qualifications round was held last Saturday.
Invitational, two teams: Hun eXtreme OC Team and OC Team Hungary
EX58-d4-something, i940 and GTX260, 3×1GB kingston and buffalo SSD;
plus lots of LN2. No modifications were allowed to the gfx card, though,
stock cooler and stock volts on that front.
There were two challenges: first SPi 8M then 3dm06.
Hun eXtreme OC team had better luck with the cpu, managing ~4.8G;
OC Team Hungary got a worse bin, only reaching 4.65G, and while
they got closer than that %-wise with tweaking, they couldn't make up
the difference.
This eventually sealed the result, as 3d06 scores only got half as many
points: OC-T-H got 3-400 more 3d06 points despite the lower cpu clock,
but as H-X-OC-T won SPi, they also won the qualification.
So you'll be seeing H-X-OC-T at the next round.
Good luck to all contestants!
Usual suspects: i5-750 & H212+ | Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI | 4GB RAndoM | 4850 + AC S1 + 120@5V + modded stock for VRAM/VRM | Seasonic S12-600 | 7200.12 | P180 | U2311H & S2253BW | MX518
mITX media & to-be-server machine: A330ION | Seasonic SFX | WD600BEVS boot & WD15EARS data
Laptops: Lifebook T4215 tablet, Vaio TX3XP
Bike: ZX6R

You can't take that quote too literally, Gautam is no stranger to insane clocks. He takes them for granted when making this statement. The idea he is embracing has a lot of merit in a competition like this that has seen hardware decide outcomes. I would also agree you cannot leave out the things Vivi mentioned. Depending on the hardware used in a qualifier or final, the limit could be set somewhere in the range you would only reach on LN2, that way you ensure the tweaker or the hardware alone will not dominate the field.
