Overclockers (Team Finland):

Test setup:

AMD Phenom II X4 AM3 engineering sample
Asus M4A79-T Deluxe (790FX + SB750)
2 GB Corsair DDR3-1800
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 CrossFireX
Corsair HX1000W + OCZ 600W
Kingpin F1 EE + LN2 cooling

Catalyst 9.1 WHQL
Vista Ultimate + SP1 & Win XP + SP3

First some DDR3 testing with air cooling. Currently IMC can go up to a little bit over 950 MHz. 912 MHz was OK with 7-6-6-18 settings and 860 MHz with 6-6-5-20 settings. Latencies didn't seem to matter that much.. but try to get as close to 900 MHz with tight latencies as possible:



Next 3DMark05 action with LN2 and score of 45354. Using latest WHQL certified Catalyst 9.1 drivers and some additional firepower from DDR3 we managed to get really close to our Liquid Helium run in Las Vegas. Two of the cores running at 6040 MHz and NB at 4370 MHz:



Quick superpi 1m WR in XP @ 6144 MHz. DDR3 doesn't seem to help much in this single threaded almost 15 years old benchmark. We tested that last core (#3) could overclock highest so we used that with affinity setting. CPU-Z shows core #0 clockspeed:



Last but not least.. 3DMark06 teaser with all 4 cores @ 5957 MHz. Complete result will deserve it's own thread where we can discuss about possibility Phenom II X4 breaking 3DMark06 WR very soon



There you go, first LN2 tests with Phenom II X4 AM3 CPU and DDR3 memory.

Next step is of course liquid helium cooling. We are talking about 4 cores @ +6,3 GHz and NB @ +4,5 GHz

right click on cpuz and choose the right core - it will look even better on the pic then I thought ddr3 wouldn't help much but still some sick mhz for 1m on that early AM3 sample

Hehe you are right, thanks for reminding. We were running out of LN2 and time and used our last drops to spi1m. There was no time figuring out how to make CPU-Z show core #3 clock speed at that point

From what I see, sub 11 in SPi1m is feasible, but this 06 CPU score is just great.
Looks like PhenomII extends the competition in one more popular benchmark.
