Where did you get that chip?

or do you think its all about the PSU?
I got the chip at Microcenter in Dallas.

I think it has mostly to do with the motherboard and this particular cpu long with the monster power supply. My friend The Nemesis (Walker) has the same cpu batch # as I do. We got them at the same store just a couple of days apart. He is using the DFI X58 and I don't think he's run his bclk this high yet. For the fun of it, we may have to switch cpus and motherboards and see how that works.

I am very close to the end of the line on this one Andre unless I push the vcore to 1.75-1.8 or something crazy like that. I really don't want to find out what it takes to kill a memory controller.

Pros have backup - Novice shows it all up front.
Now Ron struggles to get a backup.

"Shamino" aka "Lardarse" aka "Lardy" aka "Tsunami Wave Runner" or simply "Peter" put together a very smooth running X58 board with an easy to use bios. EVGA made a great choice putting Lardy onboard.

    Corsair HX1000W + EVGA X58 3X SLI FTW
thanks buddy but i agree with only the second and third part, Peter has done a hell of a job in a short period of time over at camp EVGA
i just shared what i did...you went and took that to beat me by a country mile. i shared my info openly with the EVGA forums and no one else came back with a 238

Actually that will be put to the test that using an Antec 850w as well as 1000w. I have the same cpu and highest I've gotten thus far is 4.90Ghz using DFI UT x58. Wouldn't it be something if I tried that PSU and suddenly broke 5GHz as well. We will see.

Here are some closely competing bclocks... i believe the highest found was also 233 he got 238 but couldnt keep it stable enough after running Vantage once.

I used those voltages your friend from Anandtech suggested. I also had a little help from that cascade that was in my garage this go round.
