A bit of EVGA Quad-SLI testing (2x GTX295)
During the recent weekend a good friend of mine, preacher, was here at my place, the menu said tests and evaluation for a story on some of the best X58 motherboard on the market today. But when everything was done and written, we had a couple of hours to spare. And why not also take the opportunity of a little fun with two EVGA GeForce GTX295 and the one XFX GeForce GTX285, I had lying around?
However, it should be noted that the two 295's were running at standard clocks - 594/1026mhz - so I can hardly deny that perhaps a series of higher results will follow at a later date. Nothing truly optimized here, just a few loose runs. I did, however, note that the 295's could cope with about ~700/1150-1250 without issues
Test Platform for Quad-SLI:
* Core i7 920 ES @ 4 GHz (LD SS)
* 12 GB DDR3-12800 CL9
* Asus Rampage II Extreme
* Intel X25M 80GB SSD
* Windows 7 Beta 64-bit
* Silverstone Zeus 1200W
3Dmark 2001 - 53970 marks
3Dmark 2003 - 124716 marks
3Dmark 2005 - 33775 marks
3Dmark 2006 - 26611 marks
PCMark 2005 - 16908 marks (New Danish record - with one GTX295)
3DMark Vantage - 28,278 marks (New Danish record)
PCMark Vantage - 15,882 marks (New Danish record + 3rd Place global)
Last Friday I also just got one of my new GTX285's, in this case the XFX GeForce GTX285 Black Edition, by default running 690/1300. And it was also taken for a few runs. The card also felt like it had much more left in it, I simply noted some performance drops with core over ~ 740, Shader over ~ 1575 or the memory over ~ 1311. Looking into that now.

3Dmark 2003 - 63963 marks - GeForce GTX 285 @ 738/1311mhz
3Dmark 2005 - 31028 marks - GeForce GTX 285 @ 738/1311mhz
3Dmark 2006 - 23565 marks - GeForce GTX 285 @ 738/1311mhz
PCMark 2005 - 16295 marks - GeForce GTX 285 @ 738/1311mhz
That said, I was also able to pulled the last out of my tweaked SP3 and landed a new Danish record on Wprime - with another motherboard and a little tougher RAM (or better CPU coolant), I can probably do a bit better.
Wprime 32m - 5sek 470ms (New Danish record)
Same settings in WinRAR gave a score of 5245 kb/s, which is also a "new Danish record" - just for fun
More to follow once I get more spare time. Lotsa work these days
