Anyone has any idea which 1GB 4870s has voltage regulators that work with this 'hack'? For 1 I know that the Palit Sonic 1GB isn't :P

I hope this works on my incoming GTX285 im wondering if its possible to trigger the voltage increase based on hardware acceleration threshold

    Something like this

    Hardware Acceleration raising to 1.0
    Increased voltage is applied
    Increased clocked speeds are applied

    And when your done gaming

    Hardware acceleration dropping from 1.0
Clock speed is returned to stock/GTX285 default idle
    Voltage is returned to stock

Voltage Factory v1.1 working perfectly with 4870x2

With a TX750w psu and a Q6600 @1.36v load the max i can run the card at is 1.3v on both cores. 1.31v results in a reboot. With this voltage max clocks are 810mhz core clock @90%+ fan. I was only able to get 760~ or so on stock cooling (a bum card perhaps).

If you are using stock cooling watch your vrm temps.

With this program/card you must set as below:

Benchmark from FEAR 2 Perseus Mandate:

    Stock (750mhz):

    Overclock/Volted (810mhz):

Unfortunately, it hasn't increased my max overclock. I am 842 on the core benchable (4870x2) but as soon as I go to 847 or above, I fail test 2 (firefly) of 3dm06 everytime - no matter what voltage.

Any ideas? Or just a bum card?

Almost 100mhz cc over stock is a great card...

I expected more from a core voltage increase, rather than there being no increase at all in benchable core clock.

Temperatures make a hell lot of difference too, try bumping your fan speed to 100% if you're on stock cooler and see if its the GPU temp giving you the s

I just registered to ask you about one problem I have with this voltmod. I have an Ati 4870, using the latest Catalyst and the voltage keeps resetting to default in some games, like Mirror's Edge or End War. Of course that when this happens, my GPU, clocked at 845 mhz, looses it's stability, I'm experiencing artifacts, a blank screen and a driver recovery.
I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue. I found out that not every game resets my voltage, but just a couple of them. It's very weird.

On water. Load never exceeds 48 degrees.

    @error8:

enter 3dmode (with atitool or furmark running), set voltage, set desired clockspeed, close furmark / atitool & start video game. voltage should be set along with oc.
    Bring... bring the amber lamps.

Did that and still defaults it, even in the game's menu. I'm using VoltageFactory, if this has any importance.

You need to be in fullscreen mode before 3D voltages kick in.

EDIT: I've upgraded to RivaTuner 2.24 and it seems that it's working fine, no more voltage resets.

I was wrong, the voltage is again resetting , this time in FEAR 2 also. I give up all this volt modding. I'll put the card on the stock voltage oc ( 815 mhz) and let it be. This mod has some problems, at least on my computer.

It even could run it on 1.32V after some tweaking... Just on the Club3D stock cooler. It even did 800 on stock voltage that was 1.26V (Club3D OC version).
Sold the card, now i'm sad ....

There is no one here having any issues with this volt mod, on a 4870 card? It's driving me mad.

Now it seems that the voltage doesn't reset anymore, but after playing some 10-15 minutes I run into severe artifacts, even with a slight 830 mhz on the core. I'm also keeping the voltage bellow 1.34 V. And these artifacts don't go away until I restart my computer. Temperatures are perfect, with the stock fan blowing at 60-70%, I don't see the gpu going past 65 C. ATI tool can run for hours at this setting without any artifacts or crashes, but FEAR 2 it's only staying stable for 10 minutes. I find it hard to believe that my card does 815 mhz on stock voltage and it's unable to hit 830 mhz with 1.3-1.34 V.

65C is somewhat warm, my temps with the stock cooler didnt exceed 53-54C at full load but i do have a very cool case. I recomend you increase your fan speed for better stability. With my 1GB HD 4870 i couldn't even get to 815/945 without upping the stock cooler fan speed to 100%. I also recomend that in addition to ATI Tool you use some other utilities to test for stability like 3DMark06, Furmark and game benchmarks like Crisis and others. Those will help you determine whether the card is game stable. Additionally, keep an eye on your VRM temps, the stock cooler actually did a pretty good job keeping them down in my case but that also could be a problem.

VRMs are very cool. I check those before the GPU temp. What I've noticed on my card is that it doesn't matter if it's 65 C or 55 C, it gives me the same overclocking numbers. But, I'll try running everything with the fan at 100% ( hopefully I won't loose my hearing), so let's see what happens.
