Jonathan has his own Fan boys and girls who buy his suggested products just like AMD fanboys and Girls living in denial since Conroe launched. Or P4 owners doing the same when AMD was kicking Intel's @$$!

Please don't misunderstand me on this, I never thought it was great even if it worked. I'd like to pat Asus, Creative, Auzentech and the rest on the back when they do great. I'll also slap them up-side-the-head when they don't. I don't and have NEVER bought anything with Jonathan's name on it=P I see the whole marketing thing as LAME since it's just paying a higher price for a name and nothing special added to the Cooler, Motherboard, Case or what ever else with his name on it.

Guys, I'm thinking of buying the forte to replace my X-fi titanium because the creative card has no mic boost option at all !!!

Does the Forte come with a Mic. boost ?!?!?

They both do. And both should work well even on a cheap mic.

I have a forte for sale. Pm me if interested.

The X-Fi titanium doesn't have a mic boost at all - at least under vista and win 7 - I've owned it for more than 2.5 years now !

Everybody is having problems w/ the Forte? Mine started the crackle pop noise yesterday, after 1 yr of use. No way to fix it, it only stops when I turn my side Fans on...

Since there is no other card like this I just ordered a new one. I hope it last longer...

Why that stupid Titanium HD doesn't have 5.1 analogue outputs...

    Mine's fine! Buy it, lol!

I am getting tempted to put it back in and play around w/ drivers though. If I could have something simple like the Xonar, I might keep it.

My Forte is dying after barely 2 years of use, it's making that helicopter sound all the time. Updating/downgrading drivers doesnt help.
Considering I bought this for 140 € I'll never buy from them again. 1 year warranty seemed fishy anyway... Switching over to ASUS.

what amazes me is that people still reference this card as one of the best options
yet you can't seem to be able to order it anywhere and it has jus as much problems as the creative cards.

I really wouldn't say so. I've used them in several client builds, and have two going at home right now - nary a problem to be seen, great sound from a really compact package. Auzentech isn't the greatest when it comes to driver support, but they're far better than Creative, and their cards sound better too.

I mostly agree with you but their drivers aren't much better and I use Auzentech and Creative X-Fi's. Auzentech removed a lot of the features that seemed to be duplicated in the OS. They have a smaller software package that leans heavily on Vista and Windows 7 but it works! The X-Fi Prelude sounds better IMHO, than the Forte or Titanium. In fact, I'd not trade my Prelude for anything out there.

My Xtreme Gamer X-Fi was bought about a month after they launched coupon from Creative and it has skipped a beat. I later added to the Drive Bay to make it a Platinum. MIC boost for me seems to come and go with driver updates. I got no Mic issues though, that goes for MICs or my Guitars.

I do know of at least 3 died and they're all different, 1 Forte, 1 Titanium and one Xtreme Gamer. Not really fair though since the Platinum died after 5+ years. Check those contacts guys?

Ok guys I have some good news... I just received my second Forte card, I really loved my first one and no other card in the market has it features. So after 1,5 year it starting to make that chopper/submachine gun noise.

So I take a risk and order the second one, wondering if they did something to solve those problems, and the distortion problem also (very rare here, had it like 3 or 4 times w/ the first one when idle for a long time)

Well for my surprise they did, new revision 1.0 to 1.2

    No problems so far.

    Old one rev 1.0 Back

New one Rev 1.2 with factory installed Heatsink back

    Old one rev 1.0 Front

New one Rev 1.2 with factory installed Heatsink Front

Well It does sound great, but the first one also did .. I think the HS help it beeing more efficient and maybe have less distortion due overheating.

    Have my Forte since release.

    1/19/2009 says the invoice.
    Still no problems at all.

I did, minute I unpacked it, replace the heatsink with some good thermal grease and an Enzotech heatsink.

    ------

By the way, someone here said something about 1 year warranty.
You could have applied for this:

    http://www.auzentech.com/site/suppor...y_plus_one.php

    Gives you 2 years warranty.
