thermolab BARAM vs ULTRA-120 eXtreme [LGA1366 Test]

It is cooler developing in Korean enterprise.(http://thermolab.co.kr/)

Performance is very good and price is inexpensive.

    Korea Retail price $44.58 (USD)

    Measurement point

I did ULTRA-120 eXtreme course comparison test.

    Test rig..
Mainboard : Asus Rampage II Extreme
    CPU : I7 920
Memory : Gskill 12800 HK 2G Triple CH
    Power : Enermax Revolution85+ ERV1250EGT
    FAN : Bio Sonic 35T 120mm
    Cooler : Thermolab BARAM & ULTRA-120 eXtreme

    Test condition
    [CPU : 4G Vcore : 1.35V]
    Room TEMP : 17.8℃
    FAN : Bio Sonic 35T 120mm (3000rpm)
CPU Full Load Utill : EVEREST FPU Stress Test

    Video test..

    ULTRA-120 eXtreme
    http://v.egloos.com/v.sk/egloos/a010...00000845701701

    thermolab BARAM
    http://v.egloos.com/v.sk/egloos/a010...00000846021701

    Result...
    ULTRA-120 eXtreme → 30℃
    BARAM → 31℃

ULTRA-120 eXtreme is superior 1℃. But, I am thought that BARAN that price is more inexpensive is very superior.

BARAM → Korea Retail price 44.58 (USD)
ULTRA-120 eXtreme → Korea Retail price 71.90 (USD)

Wow I thought the camera was sitting on the base

If the Baram is like xigmateks coolers we may have a new price/performance leader.

I've been saying it for a while, heatsink manufacturers need to spread the heatpipes out within the fins instead of leaving them grouped together. BARAM did it with this and it performs wonderfully.

Any testing with 2 fans? Last test I saw shown significant improvements much like a TRUE when you put 2 fans on it.

"Near"? How near should the temp sensor be placed to show that temperatures? It is only 14 degree higher than room temp.

    Sorry for my bad English

Mill out the IHS and place it in the IHS

That's what Intel does at least

What is xbit labs doing with that review?

    OCCT is great, but...

1.5v for a QX9650? What's the watts output of that chip when running at 3.7 ghz and that extremely high vcore? I think it exceeds the max specs for those heatpies numbers on BOTH coolers, right? I'm surprised the system didn't reboot in linpack.....

90C sure sounds like the liquid was remaining vaporized in the heatpipes...

And I don't think anyone here has had a QX9650 that required 1.5v for just 3.9 ghz...

Something really common with HSF reviews: adding voltage for the sake of adding heat. It's basically 'free' heat since power scales with the square of the voltage and adding voltage (to non-stupid levels) doesn't hamper stability either.

And they're probably nowhere near maxing out either HSF

A lot of us use more than 1.5v in bench mode

    I know that
but not at 3.9 or 3.7 ghz....

Either they have the worst chip known to man or it suffered some sort of damage...
The highest I saw it taking a QX to hit 4 ghz was 1.45v....
