    Talking i7 920 @4769Mhz TRUE120 AIR !

    Now that I've found my max Bclk limit of 228-230Blck, it's time to revisit max i7 920 AIR overclocks with HT disabled

    Room temp = 21.5C - 23.5C

    System specs
    • Intel Core i7 920 3836A756
    • Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + LGA1366 Bolt Thru kit + 2x 120x38mm Scythe UltraKaze 2000rpm 87cfm fans in push/pull
    • DFI LP UT X58-T3EH8 R.A51 - 01/06 beta bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x1GB Corsair DDR3-2133C9DF Dominator + 1GB G.Skill PC3-12800HZ (3x Samsung HCF0)
    • Ram cooling: 3x 60x25mm Sunon 23.5cfm Maglev fans
    • 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII
    • Pioneer DVD-RW
    • 1KW Corsair HX1000 psu
    • WinXP Pro SP3 full nLite updated hotfixes / Windows 7 beta dual boot

    i7 920 3836A756 @4769Mhz at 1.59375v bios

    Max screen capture capable @4680Mhz at 1.5875v bios

    Max Super Pi 1M & Pifast
    @4677Mhz at 1.5875v bios

    40416 efficiency

    Max Super Pi 32M

    @4638Mhz - more efficient run (2178985)

    @4652Mhz - less efficient run (2184839)

    Lucky I took this screen capture first, as system rebooted before I could load the other cpuz instances :o

    Bench rig photos

    Probably at the limit of this cpu on air, close to swapping cpu out and testing the other i7 920 3836A756 I have

    Thanks... got no other choice since only heatsink with 1366 mount I have on hand right now. Got Vendetta2 here but no 1366 mount.

    thanks, i suspected my previous 4610mhz with 21x multi was bclk limited so once that was sorted could squeeze a bit more. Now I'm both mem clock limited on 10x multi (need some A-data 2133x hehe - hope A-Data is reading this ) and cooling limited I suppose

    The Eva series was born to run SPI32M on DFI (lol) Very nice work mate that's one hell of a chip/board combo. Crazy it raised room temp so much during the benching.

    Questions:

    1) Did you lap your TRUE and processor?

    2) Have you tried some 3000rpm fans, since these are kamikaze runs anyway?

    Great work...

    hehe thanks... i'm surprised how well the 1GB Gskill PC3-12800HZ HCF0 module held up against the Corsair 2133 stuff!

    Impressive, as always. DFI showing a lot of clout with their x58 offerings, but nothing like the hands of a master clocker to coax the extra juice out of the hardware.

    George, you just have to be a cyborg or something like that. I cannot imagine when you got time to sleep, eat or to do other essential things pulling new incredible results everytime I have a look at "Xtreme overclocking" forums here.
