    Newegg still rules

    Hey how ya'll been?

Been dying for a new motherboard for awhile, specifically one with dual 16x slots for my 2 4850s (don't ask) and with general great potential but within my measly budget of $200 (holidays, just moved and security deposit kicked my butt etc etc)

So I settled on the DFI LP DK X48-T2RSB PLUS in like early December but had to wait with everything going on. Then it was on sale for $179 for well over 2 weeks and I almost ordered but...couldn't. Then the sale was suddenly over 2 weeks ago and I was kind of bummed cause 20 bucks is 20 bucks but I still didn't have $200 to spare regardless. Looked everyday to see if it was discounted again anyway of course.

Got paid today and finally able to pull the trigger. But what's this? It's now $40 instant savings? Newegg, you still rule.

+1 here. I always check the Egg first. Another tip is to get on their mailing list. You'll get regular infusions of geek pron and you don't even have to pay for it!

Sometimes the special codes you get in the emails are well worth it.....It's about the only mailing list I find worth subscribing to.

I also do a bit of business with Fry's. They are within 15 minutes of the house, so it's convenient. They have taken the stance that they will price match, even with web based companies lately, so they get a good portion of my business too. I have two individuals I deal with that have steered me right. They know their stuff and have offered advice when I ask. They have also pointed out "hidden" deals that they have seen. It works out good for all of us since they know I spend more than the average customer there... They get my exclusive sales and the commissions.

I also love the instant replacement I get on RAM RMAs. They handle it and I walk out with new sticks. For the farm, I've blown some serious RAM...

I've also done business with Petra's (highly recommended - top notch for cooling advice too.), Lagoom, Crazy PC, Tank Guys, FrozenCPU, and a few others. All were very good for the special stuff I was looking for.

    Regards,
    Bob

Semi-OT, but hey, we are in the WCG section, after all...

Got a chance to meet Petra at Charles' party, he arrived relatively late Saturday night. Quiet, intense, unassuming and interested. A real gentlemen. I'm glad the enthusiast community has resellers like him.

I REALLY wish I could have been with you guys, just to meet. The budget, work schedule, and personal timing were just a bit off.

I figure I know a few of you from the phone, and I would love to see your intensity in person.

As to OT, hey this is the WCG forum...
