Thumbs up TribesNext: Free Tribes 2 (for all this time)

No limited number of cd keys like the 2004 "free release". With the closing of the official auth servers late last year, the good folks at TribesNext have released a specially-patched full version of this old, great title with an all new account system and other goodies. There's also an active community forum.

Download it today! Be sure to tell your friends as the more people playing the better, of course.

There is a huge active community. Every day around 3 servers max out, including 1 64 man server, on the CLASSIC (best!) mod. Base (standard) and Version 2 (another variation) also typically max out at peak hours.

Game is experiencing a rebirth. Don't miss it. To anybody who used to play - this is your chance to play again. To anybody who wants to play... don't miss the opportunity. Account creation is as easy as 1-2-3 *click* and you'll have your own unique in-game name, and soon to have access to the browser which includes chat, clan pages etc.

Take a peek. Game is probably the best multiplayer fps (it's actually a z-fps) ever.

I'm shocked there haven't been games since Tribes that make great use of the 'skiing' ability. IMHO that was the best thing about Tribes... that incredible sense of freedom to move about, to catch hills on the downslopes and pick up even more "E"nergy... the mad dashes and chases on CTF maps, the use of light and heavy players and vehicles.

Someone will get it eventually, and take 'skiing' to the next level in a new game someday...

Thanks for posting this thread... I'll check it out. Should be nice knowing that this time around, FPS is going to be rocksolid no matter how heavy the fire I think I was still using a 3dfx back then...

Tribes Vengeance sucked, was a total disaster from a design point of view, and failed to capture the T2 community.

The game I am talking about, that was posted in OP, is Tribes 2 which, barring T1, is the best Tribes game (w/ classic mod) and frankly, being something like 4 years older than T:V, makes T:V look like a high school project.

i was just thinking about this one the other day... i was thinking that tribes is not being made, but it was such a cult favorite. I bet someone picks this up and remakes it.
