    Which Heatsink For Q9550?

Currently I have the Scythe on my Core2Duo. I have a Q9550 on the way and ordered the Xigmatek to install with that. However, after looking at my Scythe it has more heatpipes and overall it is a much larger cooler. I based getting the Xigmatek on several reviews and it seems to be a good cooler according to FrostyTech. Obviously I want to get the "most" out of my new CPU so which one is the better cooler? I don't have the time or patience to install each cooler to see which one performs better. I want to get the cooler on the motherboard before I put it in the case. As I recall the Scythe had me bleeding when I installed it inside the case.

A few days ago i replace my lapped Infinity with spring-mounting mod by a Xigmatek RS-1283 with the optional spring mount. Lowered my temperatures by 3-4°, at a low load ( E8400 1.27V 400x9). The 1284 is almost as good as the 1283. so i'd go for the Xigmatek heatsink but please buy the a spring mounting bracket instead of those awful intel clips !

Some sites say that the s1283 is better because the 3 heat pipes make full contact with the cpu. The 1284 heatpipes don't completely cover the heatsink because they are offset. That's just FYI, I don't know how definitive that is.

    I just ordered a s1283 myself.

Xigmatek S1283 or ocz vendetta2. I am currently running a q9550 with the Vendetta 2 My current temp on realtem is 19/20c I am only using pushpin mount atm; have crossbow mount but have not installed yet. also for the record my q9550 is running at 4ghz 1.2v atm. I had it running earlier 4.5ghz 1.4v and temp was 24c. I just started playing with my overclocks, but should give you a rough idea.

I would go with whatever one is cheaper. Zerotherm also has one like the true that was on sale for $14 after rebate, but not sure of the current price
