I received an E-mail from EK today, and they said they would probably have a block for the GTX 295 ready within two weeks.

    Hopefully.

If that's the case, it would be $700 for a water cooled GTX 295

Swiftech has a good approach on the 4870 with the MCW60-4870. Maybe the same principle can be modified and applied to cut down on the amount of material needed.

Just my 2 cents. Two 280's will outperform a 295 @ about the same cost give or take a few bucks. The 295 is not worth the money and simply a way for nV to compete with ATI based on a single card solution.
I recently upgraded from two 8800 GTX's to two 280's mainly because I wanted to drive a 30" screen with all possible eye candy, and it worked.
nV always finds a way to support the SLI configs.
The 295 is a band-aid and a way to sell VC's. The VC producers always find a way to bridge the gap between the next gen proc's.
No matter what you do or what you build, the next gen is right around the corner. Once again just my 2 cents.

No V Card maker is going to double performance from one generation card to the next, those days are long gone if they ever existed.

too bad for nvidia the 4870x2 beats the 295 clearly when using 1680x1050 or higher.

    August 2008 released 4870x2 > January 09 released 295 = epic nvidia fail

It helps to be a long term buyer, double discount coupons and the code.

    Snipedog,
You really are a Fanboy. The 4870x2 is a very good card, but the GTX 295 seems to beat it in most of the reviews I've seen.

Personally, I hope ATI comes back with something better and the competition for the best card continues. Its the best thing for the end users.
