So has anyone used their PH2 to play games yet?

Im wondering if anyone played any games yet. Im very interested to hear how it helped with GTA4 as 30-55fps was common but the game utilizes 4 cores so wondering if anyone saw some nice increases. Also Left 4 dead also uses 4 cores but the game ran flawlessly with Agena so ...... Grid is also using 4 cores and also a word on Crysis Warhead would be nice also.

If anyone has a game they want to list or hear about that might have had some improvement lets hear it.

I know you guys are still benching and testing so.......when you take a break play a game

Lightman has posted some gaming results here..

    Including Quake II..

finally you should be able to hit over 1000fps with a bit of an OC

His numbers are similar to mine,

At 1680x1050 4xAA in FO3, I gained 5fps from switching from 9950 to Phenom II, and about 4-5 from OCing the Phenom II to 3.6

Even with the detail on GTA4 cranked all the way up it feels the same speed as it does with the detail cranked all the way down. Also, it doesn't look particularly good either. Console ports for the lose.

I agree with you but, have you tried higher resolutions? GTA is more about resolution than details, also are you using commandline tweaks like -novblank and -nomemrestrictions? First one is pretty important since it disables vsync forced default by the game.

I was watching game play of this game. it seem weird that the game was with barely any movement was sitting at 30 fps then when the guy started driving around the frames went up to 50 fps. this was on 9850 and 4870. don't know about the other settings but it sure is werid that movement made the frames go up:confussed:

my brother wants to buy this game to play on my computer lol and all I have is two 3870's

Heh, that IS weird On my X2 and single 3870 it behaves somewhat "normal". Standing still is arround 35-40 fps on 1280 res with high/highest and all other settings 1-1-1-0. Looking arround makes the fps drop, police chase is huge fps drop and driving usually makes fps drop the more u accelerate.

Please let us know your performance with that combo, Im certainly interested, altho I got a single 3870, but BertM might test Deneb with single 3870 on this game.

I've just been playing at 1920x1200. Haven't tried turning off vsync or memory restrictions. I probably should

That is good news indeed! Anyone tried Supreme Commander? I'm really curious as to how it will affect sim speed. Getting my 940 on tuesday I hope!

So just make a new "commandline.txt" and make sure it looks like this:

    -novblank
-norestrictions ///this enables high texture quality for gfx cards with 512 MB VRAM
    -nomemrestrict

Put in GTA4 folder and you're good to go There are other tweaks in the readme but I havent found them useful, xcept for -availablevidmem which for some reason makes the game on my system run best when set to 1.15

Ah, I did a wee bit of web searching before you posted that and got -availablevidmem 3.0. It did the job and I was able to set the graphics to whatever I wanted. It does run a bit slower, but it looks just as crap.

To be honest though I played the game for a few days then got tired of it. Perhaps if it wasn't such a poor port then I'd be less annoyed with it. My graphics card may not be the latest (8800GTX), but it's far more beefy than anyone buying anything but the very top end off the shelf system. The game really is just a bad console port.

Phenom II 3.5ghz compared to my old Phenom 9500 @ 2.75ghz
    games:

crysis Warhead ( great difference I get 50-60Fps or more with 1400x900 4xaa and everything at Gamer its so nice and smooth that I started playing it again and let me tell you the game is really fun and when it smoth you really get into it)

Farcry 2 (everything almost maxed out 1400x900 4xaa 57FPS in Benchamark utility, with old phenom i had 42 FPS with big dips in the game but is not more)

World of Warcraft ( i get better FPS ins dalaran when its full of people but pretty much the same outside of that)

Gear of War( It was nice b4 but now its ever better Never do i drop bellow 60FPS well something i do to 58FPs vsync is on, 1920x1080 all maxed out DX9)

war hammer online ( same FPS)

farcry 2 is an OK game but Crysis warhead is way better then crysis and it runs sooo much better im having tons of fun with it and my Phenom II. now if i my FBS would allow me to reach 270mhz i could run it at 3.7-8ish
