    ASUS P6T WS Professional

So, I am havin' a hell of a time trying to pick an x58 board here.

I will NEVER use tri-SLi, but may use 2-way SLi at some point. I was set on the P6T6 WS board, but with the NF200 thing(heat, latency) I've decided against it I think.

It seems like the P6T Deluxes have a lot of issues with cold reboots, no sleep functionality, poor optical performance etc.

I really love ASUS and want to stick with ASUS if I can.

So, my question is, what do you guys think of the p6T WS Pro? It seems like a pretty simple board for 2-way SLi and has all the right slots in all the right spots for me. Do you guys think ASUS will do a decent job with BIOS updates for this thing? Will I be the ONLY gamer/enthusiast that buys this board?

Also looking at the P6T Deluxe V2....

I've had multiple bad experiences with GB boards in the past and have heard of issues with their x58 boards too.

I decided to go with the new DFI X58 board. I had problems in the past with Asus boards and cold boot bug(Original A8N-SLI board).
I started hearing about it affecting the newer boards from them too and that helped me make up my mind. Although it seemed to be resolved at a later time on the A8n board, I feel like it is unacceptable to release hardware to the public in this state. I am Obviously biased though because I currently run a DFI board that has always been good to me. The new DFI will only be my second board ever from DFI, but I have seen some amazing results on that board. Are you going to be overclocking your system at all?

Am looking at this board and the Rampage II Extream and the BloodRage, not sure what to pick.

I kinda want it all, want a good overclocking board which can fit two 4870x2 which are water cooled, pci-e sound card and pci-e raid controller. :/

I heard there is bios or overclocking problems with the P6T's, maybe this board will be different?

Check out the Gigabyte boards. You have lots of options to choose the board with the right feature set for you and there have been many recent BIOS updates.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

only problem is that when i use triple channel mushkin ram kits
    (1333 & 1600) it only recognizes 4 out of 6 gb installed
all dimms are working fine when used seperately
    but when put together
it seems to cause some sort of problem.
note that CPU-Z sees all installed dimms
but both bios info, mem count during post and windows properties

    (vista 64 Ult.)

weird quirk of the board or poor spd programming?
all i know is that the equivalent Gskill triple kits work flawlessly on the same motherboard

other than that i haven't noticed any other significant problems
    overclocking was rather easy
system is fully stable @4ghz so far (quad prime, Coh, GTA IV etc)
i really like the styling of the board
but i could live with a better pricetag and without the sas controllers etc...

Very pleased so far and haven't run into any problems at all. System 24/7 stable at 4,6 and humming along nicely. (See sig for system details.) This is my third WS board and I like the WS simplicity; the more and options you put on any board the more problems may be encountered (ref. ASUS ROG-series)...

The only thing to bear in mind is that BIOS updates for the WS series are not on a weekly/monthly basis like the P6T Deluxe, more on a 3 monthly basis. Then again the release BIOS is usually quite good...

Are you able to max all the memory slots and make them work?

Any updates on this, this is the board am getting, I'm interested to know if you can CrossFireX two Gainward Rampage700 GS 4870x2 (which are LARGE, 3 slots wide or something stupid) and still have room for a sound card and a raid controller. ?

    You'll probably need to get a PCI-e sound-card.

    Hi Iron,

Not fully sure I understand what you mean by maxing all the memory slots. Have 3*1 GB set in slot 1, 3 and 5 and have not tried slots 2, 4 and 6 yet. At 1,64 vDIMM I reach 2080 at 9-9-9-24 with these sticks but have not increased vDIMM above 1,64. Awaiting Corsair Dominator GT and will switch as soon as they are available (prospected 7-8-7-20). Hope that one of you OC gurus can help me further as soon as you get this board (hoping for a OC template for this board?) as this i7 OC bit is somewhat confusing for an old man...

Do you know or can you test if you can install 12 GB's of memory on it?

The Asus P6T boards had problems that they wasn't able to see the full 12 GB, but that's now been fixed in their latest BIOS update, just hoping this board doesn't have the same problem since here has been no updates to the bios yet.

Why the rolled eyes? I'm serious. Look at the slot layout. If those X2's take up three slots, you'll have to choose either one PCI-e RAID card or one PCI-e sound-card to go in the very top PCI-e 1x slot. If the X2's take up two slots, you'll have room for both a RAID and sound-card, but you'll have to have one PCI-x and one PCI-e.

I have all 6 slots full of Patriott 1600MHz 2GB sticks, no issues, no need to OC with all that memory bandwidth available. >28GB/s according to Sandra..

The manual and other sources say 1600MHz is not supported on all 6 slots, but that was news to me after I installed the additional 3 sticks.

Read it again, these boards have memory controllers or whatever that can used higher memory modeluals, you will notice that the highest memory it supports says it is 1600 (OC) the OC means, there is a chance you can install higher clock sticks in, am hoping my 1888's will work there

So is sleep working in Vista x64 on this board?
Strange what plagues all ASUS's other x58 boards wouldn't plague this as well as far as sleep goes....

Well, I was kinda confused, because it wasn't like I was going to use a PCI sound card.

Well, I just bought this board a few hours ago, along with some of this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...OCZ3P1600LV6GK

Never had a quad before and I'll be real sad to see my 4.4OC go along with my E8600...

BUT, pretty excited about what my new rendering times are going to be with the i7!

There might be a bios problem with this board that is now putting me off big time.

Reading the ASUS forum for this board, two users have reported that their Creative XI-FI sound card and a RAID card makes the computer real slow and laggy with 10 minute boot ups.

Honesty, is there no damn motherboard out there that works? :/

That's not good news... Mine's in the mail and I keep hearing about issues. I hate being an early adopter!

Ok, that is for the P6T6 WS Rev, NOT the P6T WS Pro....

Hopefully there isn't the same issue...
