it says bandwidth units mb/s 8687.94434 (approx 1200mb/a increase from single chann)

checked the maual and its now in duel channel.

yeh x32 i need 64 i know. like i mentioned previously 4gb, 2gb shared video caching leaves 1gb for win7 and 1gb for whatever else. shocking.

looks like im stuck between a firewall and a wall power socket. ill down clock it tomorrow to get 1T and see what blows up. thanks for ya help tho, i will post up my results.

    Good increase.

Will be good to see if x64 does increase your WEI...I'm sure it will.

im hoping it will as it will free up the 2gb ram thats dedicated to the video, (i had the same issue with vistax32 then x64 fixed it) but that wont be till next week some time. i thought the increase would have been more to be honest, i will see where 1T gets me later.

i am however getting the same 3dmark06 score at 3.83ghz as i was getting at 4ghz with the new timings, spose ill throw it up to 4ghz and see what happens.

    Just out of curiosity...
anyone see a difference in 32 bit vs. 64 bit.? (as in you tried 32, benched, then tried 64 bit and benched same specs.)

At first I was ashamed to post my score. But then I saw the WEI for the Aspire One and felt (slightly) better.
I do have to say it really does feel quite snappy. Of course I've been sending feedback like a madman. Not that Microsoft actually reads it, but it makes me feel better knowing that some system somewhere is doing something. Even if it is just hitting a virtual delete key

PS. Does anyone know of a way to decrease the delay between when you mouse over the taskbar and those preview boxes come up?

Nice mem score. Look like 6GB at 23GB/s is enough for a 7.9

Can you possibly reduce your mem speed gradually and keep checking your throughput until your wei mem rating drops to 7.8 or less? I'd really like to see exactly what bandwidth is required for the 7.9.

    No rush though....thanks in advance.
    Was curious myself...ran following below...looks like ~22,000 mb/s nets you a 7.9.

    mem 1176mhz (6x196bclk) = 19,561 wei 7.7 (pic1)

    mem 1448mhz (8x181bclk) = 20,347 wei 7.8 (pic2)

    mem 1552mhz (8x194bclk) = 21,859 wei 7.8 (pic3)

    mem 1568mhz (8x196bclk) = 22,112 wei 7.9 (pic4)

Thanks a lot bud for takin' the time to test and post. I'm sure many users are interested to see your results.

Those are some very nice numbers from your memory.

whats your system its rating? as for the taskbar, i dont think you can, i play with settings all the time to get it how i want but i think its purely the speed of your processor that will determine how delayed it is, like vista is a bit sluggish on my toplap travelmate 2480 but win7 should be a bit quicker on it when i decide to upgrade he o.s. on it, but i think your wei will kill my travelmate

oh yeh i 4got your running tri channel too. im still convinced duel channel should still be higher than what im getting.

Well, this should make you feel a lot better

I installed 7 in my old HP pavilion the other night.

    Athlon64 3200+ at 2ghz | 1GB DDR 333 | 100GB 5400RPM | ATi XPRESS 200M 32MB

I have to say 7 is just rediculously good for driver support. I can't get over the fact I haven't had to install a single driver, and this lappy runs like it has xp installed

The HDD size is reported due to partition size. I made C: drive 30gb so having 29gb free results in a slightly lower score If I re-install and configure drive as a single partition the HDD score would no doubt rise but then the graphics would most likely be the limiting factor. I'll try a little OC and some tweaks and see what I can get this bad-boy upto

well i didnt have much lick with 1T, what i did notice is that i swapped the dimms around again managed to get it to boot with 1547mhz 7-7-7-18 1T and still scored about 8200mb/s so in theory if i just leave it at 1800mhz 2T im scoring slightly better plus 2 cycles is slightly more stable than one. but while i have been playing with timings my system crashed a few times in the process, and think i have corrupted the data again, when the option shows during boot stating windows startup recovery or load normally the screen does the old roll down blind affect, like loading a web page on dialup if u no what i mean, when i select start normally it starts running incredibly slow, like i mean slower than my first comp 486dx2/66 then after about 30mins of showing the pretty loading screen it bsod with 0x08b (i think)

I dont get how this rating system works. Some with a GTX 280 gets a 6.0 gaming score, and i with my 9800GTX+ also got a 6.0. My Q9300 gets a 7.2/7.9, and its not close to the highest preforming CPU's. But someone with the best HDD avalible gets a 5/7.9. Hopefully they fix this in the full release. They need to get rid of the 'base score' crap. Base score means that two totally diffrent PC's will end up with the same base score...

    Heres my results. Stupid 3.0.

    Q9300 [Crunch] / XFX GTX285 [Fold] / EVGA 750i
    Two 250GB 7200 / 4GB XMS2 800 / 1Kw XPS PSU / Freezer Pro 7
    10,797 3DMark Vantage / Scythe 120mm Case fans / Vista U. 64
    PS3 - 700 Work Units and going strong!, XPS 720 H2C Case
Crunching 24/7 on Q9300....might upgrade to an i7

In reality though the HDD speed does govern the responsiveness of a pc. If you have two identical pc's (cpu, ram, gpu etc) but in one system you have say an SSD or VELOCIRAPTOR, and in the other you have an older spec HDD like say an 80GB MAXTOR IDE then you most certainly notice a difference in system response times.

I do however agree that the way they calculate your HDD score based on size aswell as read/write speeds is a bit odd. Since I could use 12xSSD's in RAID0 then make an OS partition of say 10GB....7 would rate that very low, even though the read speed is immense

hehee you might be surprised, my little HP runs very well with 7 installed. The only real letdown is the fact I partitioned the drive

Looking forward to see how your lappy scores

ill be willing to bet that win7 on this laptop will run better than vista but its the benching that i think will be a laugh.

lappy wont be till final release i think, as its used for every day things espec net surfing so id rather just keep the beta on the main rig,

as for win7x64 compared to x32 heres my eperience...

you bet ya! processor is still at the same 3.83ghz (1800 fsb and ram) and it increased to 7.5 ram increased to 5.9 (4gb limit extension 8300mb/s), 7.9 desktop, 5.9 gaming (havnt installed 181.22 driver yet), 5.9 hdd

im having trouble with BITS service crashing all the time so ill need to go through the report logs and fix some things. (joy!)

Good to see your mem scores up at 7+

I think you're right about 7 running better than vista on your lappy. I'm utterly amazed by it myself.

I tried vista on my HP a few months back and basically after a couple of hours of tweakin' I finally gave up. It ran like a cripple on a train track

In contrast though, 7 is like a MAG-LEV train

yep win7 x64 performs better than x32 to a degree but hasn't that always been the case with x64? (apart from driver support sometimes)

vista is memory hungry espec if you use all the eye candy, whereas 7 is just brilliant.

when you say tweaking, do you mean going through services and disabling certain "useful" services?

that is pretty impressive for a lappy , you guys are tempting me to install it on mine so you can all have a good laugh aren't yas?!

you should try taking a nokia n-95 8gb apart and installing a new housing to it, that just took me about 2 hours (and installed new speakers as they were rattling due to magnetic dust particles!) i feel sorry for the ppl that do it for a job.

Here's my wee lads rating. Fitted the memory and plugged in the hdd/dvd/gpu/soundcard himself aswell as plugged in all the fans. Not bad considering he's only 4!

I took a load of xmas trash to the recycling centre a couple of weeks back and saw an old dell tower sitting. All the guts where in it so i scooped it up and brought it home (I hate seeing pc parts trashed). I finally got around to tryin' the parts. In the end the cpu and memory where fine but mobo and all else were croaked.

So long story short, I threw the P4 3Ghz in a P5N32-E SLi + mobo I had lying spare. Running at 4ghz on air atm with stock intel cooler. His memory is Nanya (from the dell) and is PC2-3200 but runs at 413mhz (ddr-816 )

Not too bad for nyada....sorry NANYA

5.9 if I'm not mistaken, not sitting at home right now. Two 36GB Raptors isn't enough for decent transfer rate.
