I am assuming you are talking about the difference in the version of Windows? I don't think that will make too big of a difference. However something that did not even notice before is that my memory is almost 400MHz faster than his so I know that is part of it, just not sure how much exactly. I am really not sure why you would run the NB that slow to begin with. I don't think it would give that much of an increase in overclock for the CPU, but I could be wrong.

Yes thats true why run 1000nb only... you will not get any higher cpu clocks, this is what i mean by a fair compairing.

my NB can't reach over 2730mhz >_< I get a bsod on that one sometimes too. However my cores have done up to 3.885ghz. too much volts need as I'm in 64 bit, and I get a bit more heat.

List has been updated. I think there might be a link or two that I screwed up so please let me know which ones I did. I didn't add the data for screens that used downcore. I might stop doing the suicide screens except for the top 10 to conserve space in the table.

Sadly I haven't had any luck getting 4.5ghz to work at all. I got 1m to run at 261x17 and it got me 15.5 or so, but it was only stable for 8 loops of 32m so I couldn't stay with it. Need a better cooler to get in the top 5 on hwbot with the 4830 in 3DMark06, can't overclock the card very well cause its a stock hsf.
Not much to say right now.

top 10 suicide screens sounds fine with me. although to me they seem more like too lazy to run prime screens. if you need a cooler for the 4870 the t-rad2 has been good for my 4870 and the arctic cooling accelero is good too.

4830 has the same pcb design right? I don't pay much attention to graphics cards other than about where they fall relative to each other performance wise, so thanks for the advice. 4830 fit in the price bracket even though there really wasn't one, just tried going cheaper since I was trying to only buy a card every other generation. That and I still wish the economy hadn't sucked cause I would have an I7 system as well.

not sure if it will fit or not but heres the t-rads list. http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...ty%20List.html because the 4830 came after the t-rad was released its not on there but if the pcb design is similar to the 4850 or 4870 it should fit.

When stability testing, my system always BSOD or randomly restarts. It never fails Prime, just the whole OS fails. Is that normal?

Also AOD reports the wrong clocks for me, so the others having that issue aren't alone.

Well 2800 is solid. I have to run 1:2 divider for anything higher obviously, and find 2800NB and 1066 ram runs best. I need some higher clocked ram, Mine will not run stable past 1066. I might try a single 1GB stick some this weekend. I must say, Windows 7 is by far the most stable OBing OS I have right now.

Yam I know what you mean. I just ordered a Phenom II 940 of newegg last night for my cousin and he wanted it over nighted, she saw the 25 dollars for shipping and was screaming at me, and wondered why I needed yet another Phenom..LOL...she was also refusing me an i7. I told her I "needed" it for comparisons

I hit 13.6k with one because it throttles back down to 650/990 or so from720/1010. Multicard wouldn't be good because my ht link stays low so I would be low on bandwidth. I got 56k with the card at stock in '01, 41k with high quality in '03, never did '05, and 12.5k with '06. All this is in Windows 7 because it runs so much smoother than vista does for me. My high northbridge is very much a benefit to me though, 3+ghz really gets some extra frames.

Oh... here's my 4.11ghz stable. I really need to find a better chip, this one doesn't do my vapo justice.

I forgot, I need to pull another 1.1k or so to get my 4830 ranked in '06 on hwbot.

Well at 1.45v, this is about as good as I can do. I think my cooling is the issue. Either way I'm not too thrilled.

Thats pretty much what I'm seeing exactly as far as stable clock and voltage go 3.5 @ 1.45, I'm using a Freezer 64 pro air cooling so nothing special.

I have the parts to do water cooling on it but I'm not so sure anymore. I've had it up to 1.5 and still couldn't get 3.6 stable, temps around 63C so that may be hindering things a little.

My goal was at least 3.5ghz from the very start so at the very least the setup met my basic goal.

Stable as far as 30 min of Prime worth.

I didn't try testing more than that. I'm thinking of selling the rig and going Intel, unless somehow I'm missing something big.
