I didn't see it before, but I just looked in your sig and everything looks fine now as far as voltages. But 3v will really make smoke come out of your CPU

No, not really, aside from the 21x175... I did get 11 passes of LinX at the settings you suggested, and I have just been playing some CoD:WaW. All seems stable enough ftm...

Ahhh i remember that i let rampage extreme manage "AUTO" except Vcore/VDimm

on some cpu QPI/VTT require more than 1.355V to maintain stability

WTH can't we upload from a pc? I didn't want to have to join a site just to post some pics... sheesh

But thanks for the suggestion, I have joined photobucket, and hope to get a pic up soon. Just testing for low voltage max clock atm...

Well, the lowest voltage I can use for 3.8 GHz is 1.20000v with my memory at 1600 MHz... When I used 1.2065v, I got almost 2 GFlops more throughput and nearly a 10 second quicker time per test...

On a side note, the reduction in quality one has to use to get the pics on here is ridiculous. I can barely make the characters out ffs...

I'll keep that in mind Thanks.

I would try putting the DRAM voltage back up to spec... after that, try upping the QPI/vtt voltage a bit. I use an Asus board, so yours might require different tweaking to get stable...

I need to get some screens with all the details after my PSU is done getting sleeved, but here is my preliminary findings on my chip:

    Batch: 3913B225
    Speed: 4.2GHZ and 4.4GHZ w/hyperthreading
Voltage: 1.325 (higher on the 4.4 when I tested it fast but I need to go back any check what it was)
    Temp @ Load: mid 60s (4.2) low 70s (4.4)
    Cooling: H2O

I need to spend some time with this chip and tweak the settings to really find out what it needs and get some screen once my system is back together.

My new chip - Batch 3845B026

I can get in Windows at 4.2 and 4.4 but not stable. I have the ram underclocked right now to test the CPU. If I take the BCLK above 200 should I raise the IOH voltage?

    Batch # 3845B027

I started working on stability for a change today on my 920 after months of havin it, LOL. Test ran was blend. I have a mild overclock on my RAM and also gave the uncore a nice lil boost. Here is what I have so far:

I had to settle for only 6 hours as I woke up this morning a lil before 2am to go to work just to realize there was one of the biggest lightening/thunder/rain/wind storms going on that I had ever seen. Not wise. 4.315ghz was too easy and I am moving on up today. I have a feeling heat will be a factor for me as I have a low voltage/ high temp CPU.

Hey man, you can use imageshack.us to upload pics without having an account with them, that's what I do.

Back on topic, anybody else that is running 3910A*** batch on air, can you tell me what your stock idle and load temps are please?

I have tested my chip with 3 different HSF's, and for some reason this particular chip runs a full 10c hotter than my previous chip..

46c idle, and it hits 77c when I am running LinX.. Vcore is around 0.954v idle, and it rises to 1.1675v full load..

Temps are a lot higher than the last chip, and I have tried reapplying TIM several times, and like I said, I have used 3 different coolers.

My last chip was under my Zalman CNPS9700NT, and it idled @ 36c and loads were around 69c iirc.

So I wanted to see if it was this particular batch that ran hotter than my previous batch 3851A***, or if it is just this particular chip I have that runs hot. I suspect the IHS isn't making proper contact with the base of the heatsink, because everytime I have removed this HSF there has been a line about 1cm wide that goes all the way across the center of the IHS that doesn't have any TIM on it, and the base of the heatsink is the same.

I am spreading out my AS5 so that it covers the entire IHS, and I have also tested putting an extra blob in the center before fitting the cooler, but the bare line still appears when I remove my cooler, and looking at the IHS closely, it does look as though it dips down in the center.

My stock idle is 37-39 and load is 60-63 running linx. Your temps are pretty high. I'm using an Ultra 120 Extreme, push/pull yate loons 1400rpm, icd7 paste spread with razor blade for my cooling.

Yeah, they are definitely high I thought, I have tried reseating and reapplying my AS5 loads of times, I have also tested 2 different 120 Extremes, and my old Zalman 9700NT, and they are all showing extremely high temperatures compared to my last chip, and this one is using much lower voltages and is clocked lower than my previous chip..

I was looking through some screens of my last chip and then comparing them to this current one, and there is quite a difference tbh...

Stock idle temps on my last chip:

    Stock load temps:

    Idle temps @ 4GHz:

My old chip @ 4GHz load temps are 86c on the hottest core after nearly 4 hours of Prime95 Blend:

Idle Temps at 4.2GHz, I never had the chance to play around to get this stable, so I don't have load temps as it would crash as soon as I ran Prime/LinX:

And here are some screens of my new chip.

    Stock idle temps:

    Stock load temps:

    Idle temps @ 3.8GHz:

    Load temps @ 3.8GHz:

I would definitely say that there is something not quite right with these temps, I personally think that the IHS is warped, and isn't making proper contact with the base of my coolers...

I never had my Ultra 120 Extreme when I had my first processor, so I was cooling that chip with my Zalman.. I would have thought that a TRUE would do a better job than the Zalman 9700NT, but what I find even more weirder about this chip, is the fact that these temperatures are pretty much identical with all 3 coolers I have tested, I think the Zalman was about 1c hotter than the TRUE...

    ::edit::

Really sorry about the size of these images, I thought imageshack resized them when you upload images!!!

    3.8ghz 200x19 @ 1.200v is really not bad, it should do 4.0ghz 191x21 @ 1.26v like your old chip

    Hi mate,

Yeah I know that those voltages are really good, this is why I don't understand why I am experiencing these huge differences in temps between this chip and my previous one.

I mean surely if I am pushing less voltage through this chip, it should actually run cooler than my previous one right?

I have tested up to 1.355v Vcore and 1.4v QPI for 4GHz, but when I ran LinX the temps hit 100c on the hottest core, so I stopped testing immediately.

And I have tried running 4GHz using the same voltages as my last chip, but it doesn't even manage a single pass of LinX before it gives me a BSOD with Stopcode: 0x00000101.

When I tested it with 1.355v Vcore, it done 2 passes before I manually shut it down because of the temps.

It must be the IHS on the chip that is warped, because I have tested 3 different coolers on it, 1 of which was the cooler that I used for my last chip, and the temps were still ridiculously high.

As you can see from those pics above my last chip @ stock idled at 34c on the hottest core, but this new one idles @ 50c, 16c of a difference, that is not normal.

Also, I have tried reseating the coolers loads of time, and reapplying AS5 to, infact, I had half a tube of AS5 when this chip arrived, I now have none left because of the amount of times I have reapplied it to see if it was due to there not being enough/to much TIM.

Anyway, as I said, I will be getting another chip pretty soon, so I am hoping I get a decent one this time.

If I didn't care about my warranty, I would just lap this chip to make the IHS nice and level, as I am pretty sure this chip has an uneven IHS, when I look at it closely, it actually looks like it is concaved, and whenever I remove my coolers, there is a line across the IHS about 1cm wide that doesn't have any TIM on it, this happens everytime I have removed my coolers, I tried spreading out the TIM so it was nice and even, and then I also put another little blob in the center before fitting the cooler, but this didn't have any effect whatsoever.

I also tried putting a washer underneath the mounting bracket so that there was more pressure on the heatsink, and this knocked a measly 2c off the temps, which wasn't worth my time tbh.
