As for temps it is within 73C under prime when @4.0Ghz and 85C when @4.2ghz. Pics that prove 8+hours stable I will post another time.
Try LinX 0.6.2, it has the new linpack instruction, I can pass IBT but fail to pass LinX, try 30 passes LinX with 4500 mem

The way I go about ensuring stability is that I make sure my rig is prime and linpack stable (even if it's just a few minutes) at a minimum 200 MHz above my target 24/7 overclock with the same voltage settings.

    I run my rig @ 100% cpu for 24/7.

    Current 24/7 setting: 3.5 GHz (167 x 21), 1.15 vcore, 1.2 uncore.

It is prime and linpack stable @ 3.8 GHz (181 x 21), same voltage settings.
20 days straight of 24/7 100% cpu... no problems.

Similarly, my alternate 24/7 settings is:
    3.8 GHz (181 x 21), 1.25 vcore, 1.275 uncore.
But it is prime and linpack stable @ 4.0 GHz (191 x 21), same voltage settings.
I'm currently running this setting (@ 3.8 GHz) 24/7. To test it out for a few weeks.

I think this is how Intel bins them, but they do it with a much larger safety buffer. (probably on the order of 1 GHz for the 920s and 800 MHz for the 975s...)

Of course, any sort of safety buffer (even if it's just 200 MHz) is unacceptable to most OC'ers even for 24/7 . But for me, I prefer the reliability. Since I run @ 100% cpu 24/7.

*On the other hand, my benchmark settings have no safety buffer...
    Main Machine:
    AMD FX8350 @ stock --- 16 GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz --- Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 --- 2.0 TB Seagate

    Miscellaneous Workstations for Code-Testing:
    Intel Core i7 4770K @ 4.0 GHz --- 32 GB DDR3 @ 1866 MHz --- Asus Z87-Plus --- 1.5 TB (boot) --- 4 x 1 TB + 4 x 2 TB (swap)

70c is fine Assuming that is peak under load. Generally up to 80c all should be ok, but the lower, the better...

My batch is #3910A379, either the board is limiting my overclocks or these chips IMC's don't clock well.. I can boot into windows at 4Ghz but nothing is stable..
    Hey man,

It would appear that this new chip of mine is an absolute dog.. I have spent the last 2 days trying to get it stable at 4GHz but it just won't go there...

I currently have it stable @ 3.82GHz with 1.248v in CPUZ, and 1.3v QPI/Vtt, but the temps are insane compared to my last chip..

The last one would do 4GHz with 1.264v and 1.35v QPI/Vtt, and the idle temps were around 44 to 46c, and under load they would hit 82c, but this chip @ 3.8GHz, idle temps are 51c, and 88c under load, and this is with less Vcore and QPI voltage that the last processor, and also the last processor was being cooled by a Zalman 9700NT, whereas I have a TRUE on this one!!

I have tried applying more TIM, reseated the heatsink several times, and I have even tested my 2nd TRUE but nothing is making any difference at all, so I take it is just this chip that runs hot???

I am extremely upset about this tbh, because OcUK have given me a replacement chip that is an absolute dog, and I am pretty sure that they know this as well, because the CPU had been used already before I got it, the guy who sent this chip out said to me that it was a brand new chip, and that he broke the seal so that the people who package the hardware for shipping them out would just think that it was an RMA being returned instead of a new chip, but as soon as I opened the box, I checked the underside of the chip, and you could clearly see the pin marks on the contact points where it had been installed on a mobo...

I said to the guy that I had suspected that they had sent me a chip which they knew was a dog, but he never mentioned anything about this in his reply...

I really don't think it matters how much voltage I were to put through this chip, it just isn't capable of doing anything more than 3.8GHz, which I know isn't to shabby, but the reason that I am so unhappy about it is because the chip I sent back could do 4GHz without any issues, and I am sure once I got it under water that I could have gotten it stable @ 4.4GHz, because it could boot into Windows @ 4.4GHz quite easily, it was just the temps got to high under air so I couldn't bench it properly to test for stabilty..

I even got that chip to boot @ 20 x 225 a couple of times, but as soon as I started Prime it would BSOD..

So they have taken my old chip, tested it, and found no faults at all, and they have still went and replaced it with an extremely poor sample, and kept my average chip to themselves...

There really isn't anything I can do about it.. I asked for them to swap it over to my old chip again, but the guy said that it ended up being used in one of their pre-built systems, even though he had told me when he sent the new chip out that he would just use my old one in his test rig himself!!!

So I really don't know where I stand here tbh.. do I have the right to send this chip back and ask them to replace it because of what they have done, even though the original processor was purchased about 2 months ago?

I must be able to do something surely, because they shouldn't have swapped my processor over when my last chip was tested and found not faulty..

Ugh, I have a POS i920 that is highly unstable. Frequent BSOD no matter what I do.

    Asus P6T Deluxe V2
    i920 D0 3919A509

    CPU Ratio: 21
    Speed step: enable
    BLCK: 180
    DRAM: 1443 MHz
    CPU: 1.23125v
    PLL: 1.86
    QPI: 1.35
    IOH volts: 1.20
    DRAM volts: 1.66
    CPU/PCIE spread spectrum: disabled
    C1E: Enabled
    C-State: Enabled

Under load it runs in the mid to upper 70s. The system can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours before BSOD. Extremely frustrating.

    Ideas?

CPU Ratio: 21 in turbo mod I take it???
    Speed step: enable
    BLCK: 180
    DRAM: 1443 MHz
    CPU: 1.23125v Bios or CPU-Z ??
    PLL: 1.86
    QPI: 1.35 -- drop that to 1.31v
IOH volts: 1.20 I have mine on auto
DRAM volts: 1.66 does 1.62 hurt anything?
CPU/PCIE spread spectrum: disabled is your PCI set to 101/102 manually?
    C1E: Enabled
    C-State: Enabled

might give that a try Iam no expert but so far I've raised the bar 300 mhz to 4.4 ghz tweaking things

oh and set QPI to 36x

I just hit the wall at 212*21 bumped voltage as high as I dare too and temps reaching 80c+ and not very stable on prime.

    Disable: c-states and c1e.

I tried turning them on with a known 5+hr occt linpack stable oc. It would instantly bsod with c1e enabled at boot and would make it into windows, but would eventually bsod with just c-states. This is on a P6T6. 3903A468 here. I havn't needed to mess with PCIe clocks. Still at 100 for 200 bclk without a problem.

I didn't want to push QPI/Vtt beyond 1.355v in bios but 4.5 1hr stable rocks setting????

Just done some testing with Stock heatsink/paste, Mobo has stock bios, all stock voltages apart from ram @ 1.65v and cpu @ 1.165v (also it's over 30 deg in my flat atm)

I'm priming at 175x21 with no throttle (sitting at 80 deg (so says Ai Suite)) with HT on. Does not seem like the best, but shouldn't be a lemon either (hopefully).

Hey that's not too shabby... imagine what your temps will be once you get your new wb

I would try RealTemp just to be sure those temps are accurate... IME, the mobo utilities are not very accurate.

Doing much better now! No BSODs!

    BCLK 180
    DRAM 1443
    CPU 1.23125v
    PLL 1.86v
    QPI 1.31250v
    DRAM 1.64v

Disabled C1E and C-States. 12 hour prime stable, and 20 Linpack on very high. Lower CPU voltage resulted in system freezing. I'll try and lower PLL to 1.82. DRAM timings are set to 7-7-7-20. All voltages are BIOS settings.

    Thanks guys!

I just tried the same as you... only with IBT. Temps are pretty high for such a low voltage under a Megahalem with 2 Delta screamers in push/pull...

I have a screenie, but I can't upload it from my PC??? I only have the option to upload from a URL???

I've just moved to a new place so my internet options are limited, (hence only testing with stock bios etc). Once i've setup my system properly i'll give it a proper go and see what i'll get, ideally somewhere about 4.2ghz+ for 24/7. Have you done much testing with your chip yet?
