Gibbo moves from OcUK to Novatech (For UK Readers)

Just interesting news really, Gibbo been good to me in the passed price matched my 24" TFT, always helpful etc.
    Hi there

Well I've been a lurker here for a couple of years and also had a previous account but was never able to be part of this community without the risk of getting into serious trouble as I dont think its any secret that the owner of this site and the owner of OcUK do not get along due to a fall out many years ago.

Anyway yes I have left OcUK, a chain of events which was all started when my pay was cut by approx 25% with no warning or prior agreement from myself, so I of course stood up for my rights but during such time I got a better job offer, both better money and better career opportunity plus the fact its a whole much better company to work for in the first place because customer really is number 1 and they are willing to be very competitive.

However Spie at OcUK agreed to match the new offer so at the time I thought OK I will stay because in all fairness I would miss working the guys at OcUK and miss the forums too, but on December 17th Spie went back on the agreement of matching the new job offer but did agree to keep me on my original pay.

However the job offer was still there so I took it, I thought it was time to have a fresh start and more so in a company going places and as such on December 19th I left OcUK.

So as I was promptly banned from those forums its time for me to find new communities to post within and Hexus is one of those places as I see a lot of familar faces and old ones all of who I got along with.

Yes I also know there are a few here who dont like me as well or may have questions to ask and I am happy to answer questions but please at the same time dont expect me to start saying bad things about OcUK or Spie, I am not here to do that but here to move on.

If I am welcome here then superb, if not then you won't here much more from me.

Oh and finally Happy new year guys!

I tried to post a thread on OcUK that Gibbo has left & it got deleted instantly.
I didn't post any links or any stories or say where he had gone to.

I guess it is refreshing to have proof that OCuk treat their staff as badly as a lot of their customers then...

    /sarcasm off

Nothing but good customer experience with Novatech for the past 5+ years ...... infinitely better than my OCuk experience over the same period.

I can understand what Gibbo is probally saying here, take for instance this item at OcUK - Corsair 6GB DDR3 Dominator PC3-12800C8 1600MHz (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3 (TR3X6G1600C8D)

OcUK Price = £275.99 inc Vat

Scan Price = £228.99 Inc Vat

That's just one of hundreds of examples of how OcUK think their customers are mugs, well some are who don't shop around.

Have nothing but good things to say about Novatech. We order quite a few things from them at work and they are always spot on for price/delivery times.
Top quality customer service (from what I've experienced) also. Lending a switch whilst awaiting RMA replacement, life saver.

Haven't ordered much from OcUK recently, prices aren't always competitive (for what I've been buying)

The management of OcUK shows their ugly faces again...

    I've said it before and say it again;
Anyone that shops from and visit OcUK's forum deserves to be treated like the sheep/fool/moron they are treated over there. Simply stop give them business and don't visit their forum, they don't deserve it.

Well i've never really liked OCUK - i've always had far better experiences from other e-tailers like Aria.co.uk and ebuyer.

I used to use Komplett almost religiously, but they pulled out of the UK Market

    Main Rig

    Intel Core i7-2600K (SLB8W, E0 Stepping) @ 4.6Ghz (4.6x100), Corsair H80i AIO Cooler
    MSI Z77A GD-65 Gaming (MS-7551), v25 BIOS

    8GB MSI Radeon R9 390X (1080 Mhz Core, 6000 Mhz Memory)
NZXT H440 Case with NZXT Hue+ Installed
    24" Dell U2412HM (1920x1200, e-IPS panel)
    1 x 500GB Samsung 850 EVO (Boot & Install)
1 x 2Tb Hitachi 7K2000 in External Enclosure (Scratch Disk)

    Entertainment Setup

    Samsung Series 6 37" 1080p TV
Gigabyte GA-J1800N-D2H based media PC, Mini ITX Case, Blu-Ray Drive
    Netgear ReadyNAS104 w/4x2TB Toshiba DTACA200's for 5.8TB Volume size

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.

Komplett and Ebuyer where always very similar to me. I couldn't use Komplett after they took Parcelforce as their delivery partner. Too many times i had to go to the depot to pick stuff up, one time they made a 6 inch hole in my Thermaltake Aluminium case. Now i go for the cheapest store that uses CityLink delivery.

I cant say i am surprised about this since OcUK always seemed as a hobby store compared to others.

I havn't shopped at OCUK for years as their prices aren't great, never had a bad experience with them myself. Have heard a lot of horror stories about OCUK so have avoided them. I must remember to check out Novatech.

See, i'm not the only one that uses Aria

I never had a problem with Komplett delivery, then again they always delivered to me by CityStink

    Overclockers
    Aria
    Ebuyer
    Microdirect
    Scan
    PC World
I've used them all over the years and apart from the uselessness that is City Link I've never had problems with any of them. Aria and Ebuyer tend to be the cheapest but I've had good deals off them all, even PC World.

    City Link
I personally have half a dozen stories of utter incompetence from them and they put me off using Ebuyer for a fair while.

Scan and ebuyer and easily the best out of the bunch. Plus, if you're a hexus member that posts atleast half regularly, you get free city link next day shipping from scan.

PS: Proudly permabanned at ocuk forums for trying to post my shopping experiences in their forums

I only use ocuk for newly released stuff others dont have yet. they treated me wrong several times, but what are you going to do if they are always the first ones that get new items from the distributors?
For the rest I buy at tekheads because they are the only shop that still offers royalmail shipping, stupid citylink depot is 1 hour to travel per way and rm branch is across the street from me, so I refuse to order something that would be shipped with cityfail unless I have holidays I plan to spend at home, due to that I can't order at 99% of uk etailers though.

I use OCUK for all my shopping now and again they don't treat me very well =| but there service is okay and prices are somewhat near to ebuyers standard.

Also i was told by their staff over the phone that they will never price match/discount for loyal customers =| which is odd.

I dunno about him to be honest. He just reminded me of a typical sales man, when ever i approached him. I mean i spoke to him a few times the way he always came across on the forum just seemed to me as if he was only there to try and sell the product, advertise it to the people on the forum. I mean that is part of his job but you could say the same with tony from ocz or saaya from foxconn but they act different. There for the us, try and help us out and so. Gibbos attutide was if you don't like it go somewhere else
Each to their own i'm sure other people appreciate what the blokes done.

The OCUK prices and scandalous compared to over uk e-tailors, the only thing i like about OCUK is there website layout and forum, has some top people on it.

    1. Who the hell is Gibbo?
    2. OCUK forums have always sucked hard. One of the best places to go if you want an example of dictatorship. OCUK also charge ripoff prices for most of their CPUs, and the mobos they sell a lot of the time are a good £10 or so more expensive compared to other etailers. Come to think of it.. I can't remember the last time OCUK were actually the cheapest for something.
